"regular" customer service

Don't know what you call "regular" customer service, but I had one heck of a time even getting through to amp when I had some really pressing issues. That, and their trashing me on a public message...

The other day, I had a little problem with a trade not posting to my RCG portal. I emailed Mirus & had a response back within 10 minutes.

After what I saw at Amp, for that I'll kiss their feet,...

Mirus - Online form & same day wire transfer

With Mirus, there is also an online form to request a wire transfer. When I've done it before 11 AM CST, I've always had the funds back in my bank account same day.

Granted, I'm in the US & have...

Absolutely incredible

I can imagine folks would find Amp useful if and only if they never had to interact with another human being at the firm. That would mean a trade never goes awry, banking happens flawlessly, and...

My 2 cents for what it's worth

Interesting thread. I'd consider myself intermediate in experience, neither newby nor wizard, but thought I'd contribute my 2 cents.

First, chop versus trend is neither inherently good nor bad. ...

My point is rather simple. With in-house clearing there isn't one additional check before a wire can be sent using your funds to satisfy a corporate obligation. Thus, prop trading at Mirus doesn't...

Yes. That is precisely what I was referring to. Transparency.

Nothing analogous at amp.

The situation at MF Global was a complete lack of transparency, combined with prop trading and in-house...

My opinion is quite the opposite. The bigger and older clearing firm is safer, particularly when removed from the broker. As I think I've made clear, Mirus' reach into client assets held elsewhere...

Suffice it to say, I'd rather chew on broken glass, wash it down with gasoline & have a match for dessert than trade with amp ever again.

The remainder of my experience with amp, I've listed...

Yes, Mirus is very good.

And that inactivity fee I can't imagine ever being a problem for me.

But one question "VF" is that "velocity futures" you ditched? I had been curious about them as I'd heard great things...

Amp stinks

I'm glad you're happy with them. Hope it stays that way. But the behavior I saw calls into question basic integrity issues, and it's important that those who are dealing with them keep this tucked...

AMP is horrible

They probably cheated to get whatever recognition they got the same way they do over on elitetrader.com. Over there they are a "sponsor" of the site, which basically means they get editorial control...

I prefer range 4 myself, but it still gives false signals quite a bit no matter what you do.

You need to come up with some strategy to get around that issue & range versus minute bars won't cut...

Actually, they wiped out all the posts over there, the reprehensible post by their sponsor, the posts excoriating the sponsor for that post, my post concerning strange behavior with CQG/Ninja at amp,...

Elitetrader.com Forum versus the Soviet Union before it broke up

I was posting in a forum over on elitetrader.com concerning a strange experience I had with a sudden spike in my cost basis for a currency future held at amp trading.

Then there came an...

Amp is horrible

Traded side-by-side AMP versus Mirus for 3 months.

Amp doesn't answer phone or emails & I got cut off their emergency trade line when I called with an emergency.

Had some problems with reported...

Traded both side by side for 3 months

I traded same positions, same lot size with roughly the same account size.

Mirus is vastly superior. No comparison.

At amp, emails go unanswered, and the emergency trade line hung up on me.
