Hi All,

Some people I'm working with have PATs (PAT Systems) as their only commercially-viable front end to their broker. Its complicated, but it is what it is.

Are there any Forumites who are using Ninja with PATs and what has been your experience please?

I've read mixed reviews and my past experience with PATs is mixed (to be polite), but those reviews and experiences may be out of date.

Any fresh input or perspectives would be most welcome.

Thanks.

MX, curious as to why you are researching this. I was under the impression it is a pretty old system.

It is, but PATs doesn't hold a monopoly on having old systems out there. Some key infrastructure in this business is still on W2003 and I've heard stories of some stuff still running on W2K servers. But I digress.

If you are a member of the SGX Derivatives Exchange and have less than $5M in your account, there are really only three brokerages here you can clear SGX contracts with. Their front end offerings are basically X Trader, PAT Systems, and an older product now owned by Sungard (GL Win).

PATs J-Trader is the most widely used platform here, and it is free or low cost depending on your volume. I'm working with some exchange members whose only commercially-viable front end is PATs. They are small and the $1,800/month X Trader fees are a burden. PATs/Ninja is an alternative.

When it works.

There is some new plant being built at the Singapore exchange itself this year which will make it the fastest in the world (until somebody builds something faster ). They are introducing it on the equities side first, then derivatives later in the year. I'm hoping the clearing brokers and the ISVs step up their game to meet that, but in the meantime its J-Trader for most of these guys and gals.

This really only applies here, but I know J-Trader has a pretty big installed user base around the world and is white lablled to some major FCMs.

Hence the question...

I used to use Global Futures with Strategy Runner and was very happy with that combo, but when I wanted to use NinjaTrader(I am very happy with it), my broker told me if I was wed to Ninja, all they had was PATS, and that I wouldn't be happy with it. So I left them. I am now using Ninja with PFG, and so far very happy.

Time-based charts appear to work OK, but I seem to have problems with tick charts. I assume the data is filtered in some way so that the tick quantity is not accurate.

I don't know what situation is now, I recommend not use PATS with Ninja. Placing orders using JTrader which comes with PATS, is ok. but with ninja i think you are looking troubles. Couple years ago ninja didn't support historical data.

Those two offshore brokers ask sweet fees.
