Hello

I need to select a Forex data feed provider for Multicharts

- IB is free but I read that they don't support historic data. Don't turn off your PC
- Esignal: I have been quote 100$/month For Forex
- IQfeed, No info
- Another one?

Any recommendations?

Why did you select your provider?

I understand that IB is free and you get what you pay for.

As usual, all input from your part is appreciated.
Martin

Hi,

no participation on your request, very strange. I am not a too experienced user, but I know that IB quotes are bad as they send only snapshots but not tick data. Depends from your needs if you would like that.
ESignal promises to send unfiltered tick data.
Try Zen Fire when you trade currency futures. This comes for free when you open an account at Mirus futures.
Kinetick is a data feed provider which is related with the Ninja Trader. They promise to deliver unfiltered ticks and are cheaper than eSignal. I dont know IQfeed.
I am trading futures through NT and Kinetick, but as I want to trade stocks with Tradeguider which requires esignal data feed, I think about changing there to.
If you look for "Esignal" in the advanced search, you will find some additonal threads about data feeds.

I think the consensus is pretty much:

IQfeed = best all around
Zen Fire = best for cheap/free

I would add Rithmic before Zen-Fire.

Take your Pips, go out and Live.

That's true and I agree. Zen Fire marketing works even on me

I am experiencing a horrible problems with my data. Two months ago I started to use range bars on short-term intraday trades. My broker is IB. Until I started to use ranges everything worked fine. But now NT with IB data can turn my trading day that would be successful into a completely losing one. Every day Ninja creates a new trap for me. Last one was really nasty...I have never seen anything like that. I was placing limit order about 40 ticks above price and ninja suddenly started some warning window with limit exceed. It would be ok if ninja wouldn't enter into position suddenly (I didn't even hold the mouse when that happened) and with only half of ATM!!! Of course there was profit target in my strategy but no stop... When I tried to click CLOSE Ninja keeps telling me some nonsense warning windows about limit exceed.....

So I have decided to buy MultiCharts. My question is - can I trade on pre-alpha release or should I wait for beta? I am in contact with their support and they are able to give me pre-alpha until beta is released (it should be in couple of weeks). They told me pre-alpha is not so stable but I would like to hear your opinions.

And one more question - it's clear to me now that trading with IB datafeed when my open position takes approximately 10 to 40 seconds is nonsense. So - do you think IQ feed would be good for me? Or some another data provider?

Better to talk about MultiCharts in the main MultiCharts thread. I'm personally waiting for the beta before doing live trades. It should be out any day according to what they said a month ago.

IB data is not good for tick based (range, renko, tick, volume) charts. Minute charts is fine. IQfeed is arguably the best feed available for retail traders, so I think it's a good investment you can use on most any charting platform.

I've been using Kinetick for a while now and find them pretty good.

Most support departments will tell you there is no problem when they know otherwise... if the support department tells you it's not stable...what else do you need to hear ?
