I believe the minimum for some brokers maybe as little as $2500. I can't imagine it being any lower than that if that low.

Don't bother with 2,500! I would have had triple the clients if that was our minimum.
Try with 5K and trade ONE lot until you feel comfortable.

$2,500 is just too little for today's volatility and fluctuations.

Good - no, excellent advice!!! The question should be: " What is the minimum amount of capital I should start with? "

$2500 is a good place to start whilst you build up your trading experience, heck if
you had 50k to start off trading -- you would just as likely blow that as you would a
much smaller account, start small and grow from there!!!

AMP Futures has a $2,000 minimum I believe. If you're trading with that small amount of capital, you'd better be trading the right market (i.e. lower tick size + volatility, etc.) or be really experienced and know what you are doing. The last thing you want to do is trade in too big of a market with scared money.

Doesn't matter if you are a novice or an expert - there is nothing worse than being under-capitalized. Matt is spot on in his advice and his attitude toward trading.

no its not good to be undercapitalised but my advice to all is to start small while building trading experience
and getting a general feel for the markets - especially if you are new
