I've had both, velocity, mirus, and even amp.
I can tell you that your not missing out on a thing if you use a different data feed to power your charts. I actually like velocity alot more because of their online tools which give you trading statistics... Mirus doesn't offer that.

If your happy with velocity, stay with them...
If i didn't have problems with ninja, i would still be with velocity.

Guys,

Thanks for all the input. I apreciate all the comments I've got so far. Keep them coming!

I believe that a broker/dealer etc. is really showing us who they are, when bad things shows up. Most of the dealers/brokers out there are happy to show/offer us their services/products, and most of their action is based on that spot.

Now, I don't want to be a pessimist. What I'm saying above is pretty important stuff as well, and it should function. BUT because I normally take that for granted, I'm mostly impressed with brokers/dealers that can handle a stinky situation good enough in order to make me feel secure and safe. That's when I do trust them.

In terms of Mirus, I've decided to open an account with them. If I'm going to fund it or not, that's a final decision to make, that I've not done yet.

I also like to show you how these steps are working out.
I send Tony an email with a question I had. And he answered me in less than 1 minute.
Pretty impressive right?

In my my second email I send him the final forms and asked him to confirm that he got them, and that they're in order.

That I did at 15:08 Est Time. And that should be YESTERDAY!

I'm still waiting for an answer!

I'll keep you updated on this!

I think no one broker feed is accurate for volume analysis, so this is not a issue.

True, the issue is rather that not everyone is aware of this. I just wanted to point this out since a lot of people seem to run vol analysis on IB, Zen, ToS and whatnot.

IZen-Fire is fast also in high volatility and is better than almost others data that sometimes freezes. Don't know about the 20 points off you experienced and what others feeds you are referring are, but if u saw others report big problem with other data feeds during that flash crach https://futures.io/brokers-data-feeds/3682-data-feeds-chugged-thru-today.html
I think Zen-Fire and Mirus Futures worked fine, I never had a big problem.

I was on a feeds from DTN, Berkeley Futures and ZenFire each on seperate identical machines. Two of the PC's were on the same 20 megabit connection (Zen & DTN)

Zen lagged both of the other feeds w/ about 20p to the upside after the turn for quite a while. A trading buddy of mine in the US had the same experience.

Possibly this can also be filed under "non-issues" since flash crashes don't come around that often, especially given the newly imposed trading stop rules on S&P 500.

Edit: all this considered, I still find Mirus to be one of the best discount brokers out there and currently use them for my private funds.

An update!

It has passed 15 hours since I send him the last email! He ought to have been at work for at least 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Still no answer from Tony!

I've send him another email, telling him that I still haven't received any confirmation, and that I'm starting to have second thoughts in terms of Mirus costumer support.

George,

he has acknowledged receiving your mail and stated that he awaits a reply from the actual broker. Looks fine to me.

Give the guy a break, remember that Mirus is an IB and does not handle the account themselves.

If there is any personal chemistry issue (judging from your phone conversation), you might consider to change sales rep. I can recommend AJ Wustefield, with whom I never had any issues.

Edit: being a Swede myself, I know our culture doesn't generally support to speak our mind, but often rather keep it to ourselves until the limit is reached

I feel the same as Jerry. It is about what your expectations are. Opening an account requires a little patience.

Now I expect my guy to get me the answers I want when I need them, but it took a week to get my 2 computer set up working exactly like I wanted. Since it was special. But not so special that it could not be done.

Mirus has done more for my needs than any other broker and I worked for a really big one back in the day. So I know this from the inside and out. Most of what the reps do is prospect and a little hand holding. I expect nothing more than when I click to get as close to that in pips as possible & be able to pull out funds on a regular basis without much trouble.

What you might be experiencing here is a clash of culture. I'm not trying to make excuses for them , but Chicago has a very, VERY different culture than most other places. I'm originally from Chicago, but moved away 25 years ago. When I'm there on business, I find all the people as a whole to be abrupt, rude and generally miserable to deal with. That is just the way they are there. Now that I've lived away from the windy city for so long, I can't stand to go back.

When I'm there (Thank god only a couple times a year!) I've learned not to take their attitude personally. I've been on jobs where I've been cussed-out and called every name in the book, then 5 minutes later they ask if I want to head out for dinner and drinks with them.... it's very confusing at first. I've come to learn that is just the way they communicate. No chit-chat and as little conversation as necessary. It can be quite unsettling for people from cultures that are more sociable.

This may not be comforting to you, but basically I'm saying "It's a Chicago thing". I think it's crucial that you have a good rapport with your broker/rep. You don't need either one of you to be uncomfortable contacting the other. I highly doubt if he will be offended if you ask to switch to another rep.

If you're trading well (making money) with Velocity and are not scalping for ticks then why move. Mirus are fine but agreed they come across as inflexible and arrogant at times.
