Nikkei 225 setup help - please

Hey folks,

I'm a newbie on the US east coast and usually work my primary job from about 8am to 5pm. I've been using Ninjatrader, some noft order flow indicators, and a lot of ES replay data while kicking off my trading journey. When I finally go live, I have been thinking about trading the Nikkei in the evenings for a while due to time constraints. I've been reading a lot of mixed messages about trading the Nikkei and I am confused.

Does anyone regularly trade the Nikkei with Ninjatrader? Mind sharing your setup? Broker and datafeed? Can you download replay data?

Thanks so much. Surprisingly there doesn't seem to be much info out there on this.

My understanding is the miniNikkei is only available with the CQG feed not Continuum. If you have a grandfathered version of NT you could take that licence to say AMP or Optimus ( @mattz ) as your broker using the CQG feed. If not you will need to choose another s/w package from either of those brokers - like Sierra Chart and use the CQG feed with that.

Hi @steve2222, Thank you for the mention and the ongoing support. First, CQG and Continuum is the same in my personal opinion. I think they were separated for different companies based on their branding. I may be wrong, but I ran them years ago side by side, and could not see the difference.
AMP as an FCM was able to find a party that would help it route the Mini Nikkei, something other FCMs did not.

We prefer to support CQG over platform we actually can contact for the support our our customers, CQG Trader, Sierra, Multicharts, etc.

Thank you again and nice corresponding with you.

I have been considering starting with the Nikkei e-mini. What do you think is the best Nikkei instrument to trade? Which would be the most comparable to the ES?

So give my personal input, the Nikkei is probably your best bet when it comes to similarities with the E-mini. For me personally, I work a typical 9-5 here in the US and trading the Mini Nikkei 225 futures contracts at night gives me a great opportunity to trade a market that is liquid, has good price action, and lower risk (tick size is roughly 4.75~ usd).

What broker and data provider do you use to trade the Nikkei 225 mini?
