May be useful prior making the decision of choosing your next trading technology.

  • So far data feed (connection latency) is best measured with Pingplotter a freeware used to be fond at Ping Plotter Download -- see attached PDF: IQ-vs-TT.pdf

This is fast cable. Wonder what I could get with fiber?

What amazes me is the big difference in speed to different locations. For some reason Chicago is super super slow.

Intriguing that execution speed exists and some of us are playing with toys. Some references to microseconds gateways for trading:

NYSE, New York Stock Exchange > Technologies > Trading Solutions > Trading Connectivity

Features: Sub-100 microseconds gateway latency

One microsecond is a millionth of a second

I am still recommending using pingplotter to see the whole routing picture of your feed connection (execution connection is most important). If your broker is routing you first to its servers and then to the market that will increase your latency which is bad.

Per my post you can see that data is leaving Las Vegas under 20ms and as soon as it hits the broker servers becomes a slow connection.

Can't run pingtest on this box as I don't have Java on it, but the ping to Zen Fire is 1ms

Due to time constraints, please do not PM me if your question can be resolved or answered on the forum.

Need help?
1) Stop changing things. No new indicators, charts, or methods. Be consistent with what is in front of you first.
2) Start a journal and post to it daily with the trades you made to show your strengths and weaknesses.
3) Set goals for yourself to reach daily. Make them about how you trade, not how much money you make.
4) Accept responsibility for your actions. Stop looking elsewhere to explain away poor performance.
5) Where to start as a trader? Watch this webinar and read this thread for hundreds of questions and answers.

Auch!! That's some big difference, for having only TT and zenfire for 2 instruments, is it worth it to upgrade to fiber ?
