Hopefully one day NT will offer more in Asia Pacific region which are great markets for all. I cut my teeth on Euro markets because they opened after my day job, and now I am trading mostly full time I have moved to Asian markets so I can work during normal hours. Same could be said for people in the US. Asian markets open after most people get back from work so great for people transitioning from a day job to trading or even giving it a crack. HSI is an even bigger no brainier for US people as the Hong Kong dollar is pegged to the US dollar so minimal currency risk.

i hope it won't take them for toooo long. just checked NT Brokerage and they do not offer HSI Futures. Kinetick does not offer HKFE as well. (pls correct me if i am wrong)

for those who are trading the HSI Futures, could you shed some light on the followings?

1. which data provider you are using? both live streaming and historical ticks?
2. i am afraid i would violate the rules of futures.io to ask prices here and if possible, pls PM me your experience and $$ you are paying. If u r a vendor and would like to help, pls PM me the pricing schedule. I just switched to NJ and got quite frustrated right now. Need to subscribe to a long term data provider in very near future. I trade US Stocks, E-mini ES and HSI Futures

thanks in advance!

Hang seng vol

For those trading the HSI, isn't the volume for HSI pretty thin. I mean it's like less than 20k for the whole session. Am I wrong here?

I think you confuse the price level of about 20,000 with the actual volume which is about 130K ( session of June 30, 2016. https://www.hkex.com.hk/eng/ddp/Contract_Details.asp?PId=1)
However, you are better off trading the Osaka Exchange Emini Nikkei 225 if you are looking at a liquid contract.
You can trade it via CQG on Market Delta, Sierrachart and/or MultiCharts, and of course on CQG platforms directly.

My bad. I had the AT (after trade) volume, instead of the Regular Futures vol. By the way, what is AT volume?

That's why I always had the impression that HSI is so volatile with such low volume. Thank you, Matt, for clearing that up.

Sure no problem. One thing that I always make people aware of is that if there are enquiries about certain products is not always because people actually trade them.
Stay practical with the liquid contracts, because being a trader is not having every single chart open. Having said that, you may choose to have a small number of contracts for analysis that may have a strong correlation to your main product.
I am not sure what is AT Vol, this maybe be something with your platform.

I believe the AT volume is the evening session. Not a few markets in Asia added an 'evening' session so that they are open during US trading.

The HSI has an evening session from 5:00 pm - 11:45 pm https://www.hkex.com.hk/eng/prod/drprod/hkifo/fut.htm

Math. A gateway drug to reality.

what do you mean by 20k? thin wrt what? Night session (T+1) is generally less active than the Day session but the product is the same.

on the other side of the coin, people didn't ask any further may simply because, they've found a way to do it without telling you how they've done it... ;-)

Sierra Chart - Potential HSI Data Provider

Hi,

I have found out through another thread on Futures.io and also the Sierra Chart support board that they will likely be offering HSI and HKFE data through their own data service within a couple of months. The data will be unfiltered and will route from Hong Kong to servers in Chicago.

I will certainly be making the switch to Sierra Chart when hopefully this eventuates.
