After swing trading for a couple of years the FX market, 6 Months ago started to sim trade the ES for scalps and decided I want to go live with it. Now I am a customer of IB but through a foreign company and I am charged 500% more commision than the average. For my swing traders I didn't care since I use that company in my country for stock Trading and wanted to have good relations. But for scalping it is a no go. So decided to open an account with Ninjatrader and I have that silly question. I read on the Website that the Initial Margin for ES is 5.060$. Does that mean that with a 20.000$ account you can open barely 4 contracts? Because in IB the initial Margin is 2.0xx and I can open around 8.
Thank you!

Their day trading margin requirement for the /ES is $500. Granted the minimum account size is $1,000. Working with a $20,000 account, I would be careful not to leverage myself too aggressively, unless adding to a proven position.
6E, 6B and GC margins are to be multiplied with X 3
this until the potential of drastic market moves has returned to normal (due to possible Brexit scenario)
