TD Ameritrade - TOS The trade-off is that you will likely pay higher commissions and have a slightly inferior data feed to work with compared to a boutique discount broker. So, you have to consider your individual situation to decide if it makes sense. If you are a scalper, consistently doing a high number of trades and looking to make a few ticks at time, then you will probably need better data and lower rates. On the other hand, if you are more of a position day trader, where you scale in to positions and plan to hold for longer periods anyway, then the higher commissions and softer data feed from TOS could be offset by not having to worry about monthly inactivity or exchange fees. Good luck.
