I currently use IB for my brokerage with Kinetick as my data provider. I'm wondering about using NT brokerage. Anyone know how Kinetick ($65/month) compares to the NT brokerage Continuum data provider which I think is free?
Appears NT brokerage commissions are actually a little less since I have a lifetime NT license.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Lots of folks like to say that continuum is just CQG rebranded, but I don't buy it. I have found distinct differences, but that's beside the point. If it is in fact CQG rebranded then I would have no problem using Continuum as my feed. CQG has been spot on for me as it compares to IQFeed / Kinetick. Personally I would not pay for Kinetick if I was getting a CQG feed.
Outside of paying exchange fees, Continuum is free with a NinjaTrader Brokerage account. Reasons to keep your Kinetick subscription while having a brokerage account is:
- Continuum does not provide stock and forex data
- Kinetick provides a back up
- Kinetick provides some international markets that is unavailable with Continuum
Denver, CO, June 30, 2014 NinjaTrader Group, LLC has announced the launch of NinjaTrader Brokerage following their acquisition of Mirus Futures. The new brokerage will leverage the best of both award winning teams to address unfulfilled traders expectations …
After signing up with Kinetick, I was unaware that they do not have a contractual agreement with NYBOT. Therefore, you cannot trade the all-popular TF (emini Russel 2000). That was the ONLY reason I dropped Kinetick.
Continuum CQG works well for my automation in real time trading but cannot be trusted to deliver clean tick volume if you intend to download and backfill tick data.
A curious matter related to NT Brokerage Continuum is signing up for additional datafeed packages like the CBOE. They do NOT list what you get with the package -- very enigmatic to the point of being ambiguous. Why don't they just post on their site the data you get with a package. What is the problem with that? Unless they tell you, it is unlikely to show up in your platform Instrument Manager. And without the symbology, you have to ask a rep how to key it in under "new". Riduculous!
OK. That's my Hyde Park soapbox. I'm off now. Geesh!
