I have started using MC. net SE 64bit version using a CQG feed via my broker AMP and am trading ES with it.

Unfortunately, I am eperiencing regular disconnections with the CQG feed.

Are other users having this issue too?

Is it a CQG or MC issue?

Would changing the feed to Rithmic offer improved connection stability?

Would be interested to hear from other users and their experiences with MC.net and CQG and/ or Rithmic feed(s).

P.S. And btw, yes, I have installed the dedicated MC.net API for AMP/CQG as suggested on the MC.net support forum.

I see that your double post at the MC forum already received an official reply from MultiCharts ( here). Just mentioning it here, so that futures.io (formerly BMT) users don't spend a lot of time responding to something that is already dealt with.

That being said, this question still stands for the CQG users:

I'm also using AMP/CQG but with Ninja and had the same problem the last 2 days.

I actually lost money today because of it, had a stop order to get in and lost connection, could not close that order or add a stop, once the connection came back... you guess what happened.

I've noticed something like 3 or 4 drops during the day, it takes 1-2 min to recover.

Not sure if it's my internet connection or a CQG problem, anyone else had this?

I wouldn't say that it is dealt with. I have the same issue and MC cant do anything about it. It's on the CQG side, and they dont support anything beyond their own platforms.

I'm switching back to Rithmic as we speak due to this

But CQG with AMP and NT has server side OCO's.

If you had used a bracket OCO on your initial entry order the server side management would have created the profit target and stop target automatically when your entry order was filled while your internet connection was down.

I have traded long hours all week with no drops.

AMP / CGQ / NT

... as for the server side oco, when activating this function when setting up New Connections, there
is a strange disclaimer that pops up stating that OCO orders still need to be triggered from
the trading software. I stared at this for some time thinking - I either don't understand what this
is saying or it the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. Obviously if you drop a connection, the
platform can't send the info...

Did anyone else notice that disclaimer?

I'm using SC and use their new Eurex feed (apparently delivered through CQG). 13/02/2014 my data feed (DYH14) seemed to freeze on 16u05 CET at level 9449.

Did anyone else experience a problem at that day / time ?

I have not noted this Eurex disconnection. But after much troubleshooting with AMP and Multicharts tech support, it became clear that the issue is indeed with CQG and Multicharts. I understand AMP are the only broker who offer this combo and the AMP/CQG API simply does not work. I have no problems using MC with say IB. Also, I have no problems when using CQG with say Sierrachart.

So, unfortunately, using MC with a CQG feed (at least via AMP) is not practically possible. The connection (at least in my case) will simply disconnect every few minutes.

I am now using SC with AMP/TTnet, MC with IB and am just opening an OEC account, as I really like SC as a platform and want server side OCO support with SC, which is possible through OEC. Also turns out that the OEC Trader is not a bad platform (given it's free), although I will still be looking to use SC to trade with the OEC account.

Doesn't IB support server sided OCO ? Because when i look through SC data services:

Interactive Brokers:
Server Managed OCO (Order Cancels Order): Yes when Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> More Interactive Brokers Settings >> Use IB Managed OCO and Bracket Orders is enabled.

Yes, I believe it does, but IB's data just leaves much to be desired. I like to scalp the ES occasionally, especially when the market is moving fast. And in those situations, IB just isn't up to the task, in my experience. In those situations, I simply want a tick-accurate feed. So I figured, I would give OEC a try. Their feed is supposed to be tick-accurate and they also support server-side OCO. So it is worth a try.

P.S. I should have added, that I am using MC.Net SE, which is free. I also get SC Package 3 for free with AMP (but with this setup, I cannot use IB with SC). So if I wanted to use SC with IB, I would need to pay for SC. I now plan to pay for SC, but for use with OEC.
