The volume data displayed in Multicharts from the IB API is wrong. For example on a one minute chart of the Dax futures in fast markets, most volume bars will only show half of what the TWS chart shows. On the Hang Seng future which is mostly very fast/jumpy the volume readings are even worse! Multicharts says that the IB API is not fast enough and/or does not provide all the tick data available in TWS. This renders the Footprint and volume functionalities of Multicharts completely useless.
I wonder if anyone has a similar issue??? Is it Multicharts or IB? Couldn't find any free IB API charting app to test.
Thanks for any feedback
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I haven't used IB through 3rd party software before (only TWS) but the feeling I get from comments from others over the years is that their data feed into 3rd party software is not very good. Try to use a different data provider real-time data and charting in MC or Ninja and just use IB for execution, which is what they excel at.
As mentioned, IB's data is bad. This is documented countless times on nexusfi.com (formerly BMT).
Do not use IB data. I use their API myself, and it's fine for execution. But use a quality data feed, like IQFeed. You can see what I am doing here if it interests you:
So I've written several posts about this all over the place but I keep getting questions and PM's so it makes more sense for this to have its own thread.
First, I need to tell you that while I have no problem sharing a great deal, …
Thanks for the feedback. I probably will go with IQfeed for the Bunds&DAX on the Eurex.
IQfeed doesn't have the HKFE, only found esignal there, anyone experience with them.
