Thatís a great question trendisyourfriend!

To be honest, Iím unsure which would be faster, but ultimately the fastest way to have access to the data through NT is keeping the data locally. Using the Historical Data Downloader as mentioned above is one way to do so. Also, NT typically saves any downloaded data locally, so after the initial download, the only delay in accessing the data is your local computer (which should be basically instantaneous). The issue is that NT with FXCM doesnít (YET!) save the data locally. We are working on this now and hoping to resolve this issue shortly.

I appreciate your understanding with the situation and please give us a little time to put a better solution in place.

Thanks again!

Brad

Hi Brad,

An easy one, but could not quickly find it on your website, how much history data (tick, minute) does a basic account with FXCM offer ?

Thx

Does FXCM offer the same back-data as Kinetick, or how many days of "tick" data, minute and day data does FXCM offer ?

THX

Hello andby, thanks for the reply!

The HDD platform offers all the data that we have on file. Typically (and depending on the currency pair) itís about 1 year of tick data and about 10 years of 1 minute data. Again, it depends on the currency pair, but the usually the more popular pairs (eur/usd, gbp/usd, usd/jpy, aud/usd, etc.) have that much data or more. Exotic pairs may have less data, but again, the HDD platform has access to each and every price that FXCM keeps.

I am not sure how much data kinetick has, it may be good to ask that question to them directly.

Hope this helps! Thanks again!

Brad

Data from Kinetick would come from IQFeed's infrastructure. It should max out your bandwidth if the application is properly threaded and makes multiple requests. In other words, it is super fast.

Mike

The question is: NT 7 is properly 'threaded' when handling realtime data?

What 'kind' of FX do you mean ? Futures or Spot ?

... Spot FX, try this NinjaTrader stock, futures and forex charting software and online trading platform. FXCM Connection Guide., for unlimited demo account.

For daily data, you can use the FREE Kinetick EOD connection for which you can find instructions here - NinjaTrader stock, futures and forex charting software and online trading platform. Kinetick Connection Guide..

If you need real-time data, you can request a demo at FXCM's website.

The spot price is the current price of a currency. What you are probably thinking about using when you are using a forex broker like FXCM.

You can trade futures contracts on currencies on exchanges like the CME. It is a futures contract that settles on the spot price at some date in the future.

Math. A gateway drug to reality.

Does ninja trader connect easily to the FXCM forex data feed? Another question, can ninjatrader connect to two different data feeds at the same time?
