I am in the process of looking at a Zenfire setup with Ninja. I am currently using Pats through an Australian broker and after some speed comparisons, I am definitely switching. Question is, AMP or Mirus. From the research I have done, they appear to have similar commissions. For people that have used both, could you please give me an idea of any differences between the two brokers? I am also interested in customer support. Since I am in Australia I need good quality 24 hour email and phone support.

Also, do I need to change my NT license to Zenfire myself or do Zenfire brokers provide a license?

Thanks in advance.

I have figured out the licensing question. I will need to get a licence from NT direct as I want ATM enabled. Just tried the live provided licence from Mirus and ATM is disabled.

I've used both Amp and Mirus. I'd choose Mirus again.

Thanks Mike. Could you elaborate on your experience with both? I am also waiting on commision quotes from both companies so if you could fill me in on the commission rates you received from both I would be grateful.

I will be trading ES, CL, GC, and various forex futures like EURUSD and AUDUSD.

From memory:

Amp
CL: margin = 2000, negotiated down to 1000, commission = 6.90 r/t

Mirus
CL: margin = 1000, commission = 5.02 r/t

Cheers Mike,

Mirus application filled out. Hopefully up and running early next week. I haven't traded the local market much of late and ZenFire doesn't have it so look out Europe and the US

The speed comparisons I did were night and day between Pats and Zenfire. Obviously a bunch of filtering happening on the Pats feed. Depth update was much slower too.

Do people find the history data provided by Zenfire adequate or should I be looking at other sources?

If you use NinjaTrader, then Zen Fire historical data comes from NT itself and is very good. In fact, it is excellent. With NT7 the continuous contracts work as they should, so NT7+Zen Fire is a nice combination.

If you don't use NinjaTrader, there is no such thing as backfill for Zen Fire. Well, MultiCharts has three days. If you do a lot of backtesting, you'll want NT7 not NT 6.5 for the continuous contract features.

Personally, I use IQFeed with MultiCharts. I have Zen Fire in MultiCharts, too, but everything is just easier with IQFeed.

Yep, I'm using NT6.5. I'm also an NT7 beta tester (from the start) so I agree NT7 + zenfire looks attractive and one of the reasons I'm giving it a try. Doesn't hurt to use the feed that the majority use either. Pats wasn't exactly supportive of NT since they have their own platforms and wanted to charge me for the privilege.

If I've read everything correctly the only fees I should be paying for NT+Zenfire setup through Mirus should be an NT license (because I want ATM) and brokerage? If I have that right then that's a big difference to my bottom line in terms of monthly fees.

As a side note, for the way I use NT, I have found the latest beta (NT7B14) quite stable. I'm almost tempted to use it as my main platform but discipline is making me stick with NT6.5 until full release.

Has NT7 solved the COBC=False integrity issue for backtesting?
