FuturesTrader71 info

Hi guys,

I've got a few questions regarding FT71 aka Morad Askar, mainly regarding his trader history and current status in the professional trading world. Im mainly trying to find out answers to the questions about some information i have found and not found about him, his prop shop, his current brokerage and his associates . Im not making assumption, just curious to what your thoughts may be ?

But First off I would just like to let you all know:

I'm a big fan of FT71
He is a great teacher
His concept of teaching a man to fish, rather than giving him a fish is great.
I've watched a few of his webinars and I am really interested in what he teaches. I'm in the process of signing up to Vankar trading corp to better understand the processes of becoming a better disciplined trader. One of the great things about joining Vankar is you have more access to FT71's weekly interactions and seminars.

However:

I have a few questions that Im a little confused about and don't really know how to interpret them. I was hoping I could get your thoughts and views about some of these questions I have about FT71 (Morad Askar) ?.

So What I did was Looked into some of this information:

1. Morad Askar
President
Kandalaya Trading Inc.
January 2003 – May 2011 (8 years 5 months)

Proprietary futures trading firm at the Chicago Board of Trade.

This is the information that I found:

NFA.com:
Search Results.

commodity futures trading commission:
Search Results: Kandalaya Trading Inc.

No results...

So I did a search online and through CME:.

Search Results: Kandalaya Trading Inc.

What does it mean when it says:

ELECTRONIC CORPORATE MEMBER FIRM APPROVAL effective August 3, 2010 ?

and on the other form what is meant by :
ELECTRONIC CORPORATE MEMBER FIRM WITHDRAWALS effective july 15, 2011 ?

2. Before Running Kandalaya Trading Inc he worked as a prop trader at:

Proprietary Trader

Matrix Trading,LLC
2002 – 2003 1 yearChicago, IL
Traded electronic futures profitably. Trained traders and provide support to help them achieve consistency in their trading.

I did searches on this too:

NFA:

Search Results

No Current Status ? what does this mean ?

3. Currently he is working as a vice president at Vankar

Executive Vice President
Vankar Trading Corporation
May 2011 – Present (1 year 7 months) Greater Chicago Area

NFA's Broker/Firm Information (BASIC) Link Below:

BASIC Details

What does it mean if Morad Askar Vice President Of Vankar Trading Corporation does not have 10% or more financial interest in the brokerage ?
Vankar has had a regulatory action taken against them, Is this something that is the norm in the Brokerage world or something to be aware about ?

4. Now if you do a search on Morad Askar: link below

BASIC Details

It mentions STAGE 5 Trading Corp which is owned by Lena Elkhatib Andrun.
Morad and Anthony Giacomin are chief operating officers and is NFA Pending as of the 08/28/2012. And Morad has less than 10% interest in this corp too. Is this a good or bad thing ?

Anthony Giacomin, whom some of you may already know, very polite awesome guy. What I'd like to understand because im still not familiar with allot of the business side and regulations of brokerage firms is, why when you do a search on NFA, It mentions associate member is withdrawn?, forex associated person is withdrawn ? (link below)

BASIC Details

Morad is a great guy and seems very giving however, why if he's the vice president of Vankar Trading corp does he not have any financial interest in the company ?
I cant find any information on his prop firm Kandalaya ? maybe im not looking in the right areas.
I also cant find much information on Matrix trading, LLC which has no current status ?

What does all this mean?

Is it due to business structure for tax purposes ?
Is he really wealthy and chooses to spend his spare time helping others traders. He runs futurestrader71.com, he is the vice president of Vankar trading corp, manages clients ,trades himself, runs his prop shop ( maybe still operates it) and has time to conduct webinars on a weekly basis.

These are simply just questions, im not implying anything just would like to know your thoughts and opinions on what this information means ?

When you asked Morad, what did he say?

Mike

Due to time constraints, please do not PM me if your question can be resolved or answered on the forum.

Need help?
1) Stop changing things. No new indicators, charts, or methods. Be consistent with what is in front of you first.
2) Start a journal and post to it daily with the trades you made to show your strengths and weaknesses.
3) Set goals for yourself to reach daily. Make them about how you trade, not how much money you make.
4) Accept responsibility for your actions. Stop looking elsewhere to explain away poor performance.

This is a work in progress and is continuing under a brand new brokerage that is pending approval. Anthony and I are running a division under VanKar Trading (which is a brokerage that has been in existence since 2001. I am not the owner of VanKar. It was simply an opportunity for us to do something under an existing firm. Anthony and I will be disassociated from VanKar in the next month (I hope).

Proprietary futures trading firm at the Chicago Board of Trade.

This is the information that I found:

NFA.com:
Search Results.

commodity futures trading commission:
Search Results: Kandalaya Trading Inc.

No results...
My prop firm is a privately held firm. It is not a member of the NFA and is not required to register with the CFTC. Only brokers, CTA's, CPO's, FCM's and others who handle the public's money are required to register. I traded my own money under my firm. Not sure what results you expected.

For strategic reasons, the firm held an ECM for one of my prop traders for a short period of time instead of buying a seat for him. When he wasn't a fit for the firm, the membership was withdrawn. Is there something in particular that you are looking for?

2. Before Running Kandalaya Trading Inc he worked as a prop trader at:

Proprietary Trader

I did searches on this too:

No Current Status ? what does this mean ?

Matrix Trading was a private prop firm. Again, it didn't require registration. Not sure what these other firms listed here are. Matrix declared bankruptcy and was dissolved by its owners in 2004 or 2005. This was well after I left the firm and started my own.

3. Currently he is working as a vice president at Vankar

Executive Vice President

Vankar has had a regulatory action taken against them, Is this something that is the norm in the Brokerage world or something to be aware about ?

The NFA requires the directory/manager of a division to register as a Principal. I have no ownership interest in VanKar Trading. I have no interest in ownership of it. However, because I am responsible for the division that handles online traders and trading, the firm is required to register me as a Principal. It doesn't really mean much more than that. As stated, my reason for joining VanKar was to implement my vision of how brokerage for traders should be with my partner and friend, Anthony. Is there something further you need clarified?

It is neither good nor bad. Again, for personal reasons, my interest in brokerage is that of being involved with traders and trading and not in complete ownership and control of a brokerage firm. Anthony is an owner and another person is an investor. I'm in charge of trading operations, handling traders as I did in prop and watching risk as well as helping traders to overcome their obstacles. This is what I like doing and is the reason I'm involved with brokerage. As a broker, I can see what folks are doing and can focus my analysis and effort on how they traded. You can't do that without being a licensed broker.

When a broker leaves a brokerage firm, his associate membership is withdrawn from the firm (Infinity Futures) and so is his Forex Associated membership of that firm. This is normal. Anthony is currently fully registered and in good standing with the NFA and is by far the best broker I know simply because he really gets into the details of what our traders need and how we can help. He handles the brokerage, pricing, directs traders in need of help to me, etc. He is not a typical broker and has actually traded prop in the past, so he knows what traders struggle with. I am lucky to have him on my team.

Morad is a great guy and seems very giving however, why if he's the vice president of Vankar Trading corp does he not have any financial interest in the company ?Because the firm existed before I came and it has a sole owner. I have no interest in owning the firm.
I cant find any information on his prop firm Kandalaya ? maybe im not looking in the right areas. See above. My prop firm was private. No registration is necessary. It traded private funds for its own accounts.
I also cant find much information on Matrix trading, LLC which has no current status ?

What does all this mean?It means that you are smart for doing some homework, but there really isn't anything here that is irregular. Anthony and I still have a single-pointed mission to build the most comprehensive and trader-oriented brokerage and trader education program in existence. It just takes time and a whole lot of work. Can't wait until it is in full bloom.

A life lived hoarding material gains without providing value to fellow human beings and asking them to pay it forward is a life that is wasted and is empty. Wealthy or not, I have made it a point and a key value in my life to give what I can when I can and this is exactly what I'm doing and will continue to do. I'm passionate about trading and believe it to be the best job in the world (assuming you control your risk). The webinars I conduct for our traders are effortless and just a verbal manifestation of what I type in the room. They don't take a lot of extra effort. My prop operations are on standby now as I focus on building this brokerage with Anthony. In the future, I want to return to prop. I had an excellent deal for my traders and a fantastic work/support environment. Right now, I'm trying to provide my prop experience to support the public and will return to prop when I can.

These are simply just questions, im not implying anything just would like to know your thoughts and opinions on what this information means ?

If you have further questions, I welcome you to write to me by going to this page: Contact | FuturesTrader71.

There is nothing extraordinary about my past other than that I have been in this business as a professional trader from the start. Brokerage is a means to an end and not the end itself. This is why I have no interest in owning VanKar.

Good luck with your trading and trading journey!

Under NO circumstances will a broker that I'm working with trade on someone else's account. This is against the law and introduces tremendous liabilities that only the most reckless broker would take. We CANNOT take power of attorney on an account. We can close positions for clients at their request or to protect ourselves for risk purposes, but I will not trade a client's account nor am I interested in watching their every trade.

Lessfilling was sharing his experience with people who ask if anyone had used VanKar, I guess you think forums work better when no one answers questions?

As far as the random person who must have total control of your account comment...

First off you are disregarding the truth. He doesn't have total control over your account, he is willing to help you control your risk. If you are already consistently profitable and need no help then you can opt out, but for those who are not this is a huge plus. He is not just some random individual, he is a guy who has consistently proven himself as a trader, educator, and broker who teamed up with the top talent from Infinity to create something better. I'm willing to bet at least 95% of their clients would agree they've done that. I personally have accounts at 4 different brokerages and I have gotten more out of the 5 months I've been with VanKar than the years at each of the others combined.

Does anyone have a link to the intervention he mentioned in a few times in this video? I can't remember the traders name, sorry, but it was a guy he mentioned a couple of times during this video.

Mike

Hi Mike,

Hope you are feeling better. The other interventions were with clients from whom I don't have permission to post information about their trading or account, so those are not available to the public. Jodie was kind enough to make hers open to the public.

Cheers!

Thank you omni--I meant to imply, though I did not say: "why did she not increase her margin requirement?" Glad VanKar offers this, most brokers probably do though I do not know for sure.

Because SHE is required to exercise discipline. We keep margins high to protect people (I personally believe that $500 margins are a gimmick that helps brokers and can be fatal to traders). The goal here is for her and all traders to respect the fact that they have to exercise control.

Think of an alcoholic as an analogy. You can hide all of the liquor from his/her environment but until he/she decides to stop, then it is not something that can be resolved. The market convinces most people to stop disrespecting risk and ignoring good discipline. The market teaches this one way or another.

Hi Futurestrader71,

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer all those questions, I really appreciate that.

"Anthony and I still have a single-pointed mission to build the most comprehensive and trader-oriented brokerage and trader education program in existence. It just takes time and a whole lot of work. Can't wait until it is in full bloom." - I think this is absolutely awesome and cant wait to be part of this.

You gave more than enough clarification on my past questions and im not looking for anything further, Thank you once again. I do however just have 3 more questions regarding your plans to Disassociate yourself from Vankar maybe in the near future if you don't mind?

I would just like to know what you mean by disassociating from Vankar ?

If you're going to maybe be disassociating from Vankar, will we still be able to receive the same benefits from you ?
and if so would it really matter which brokerage we're with ?

cheers

Disassociate means that I will no longer be working with VanKar and will be working with a new company named Stage 5 Trading that is being built using the values and goals that Anthony and I want for the industry. We will be in full control of how we move forward and will be fully focused on fulfilling our vision as stated above. Right now, we are distracted by many things relating the current brokerage we are with. We don't want that anymore.

Under Stage 5, the benefits are greater for the reason mentioned here. More control, higher ability to execute our plan. We can put resources back into building the business rather than to pay another partner. This is an overall benefit to the traders.

Cheers!
