@zcui,

Don't feel so bad, you are not the only one. I have ZenFire but directly with Dorman. I have had this issue twice today so far (one in the middle of a trade). Disconnected twice and freezing screen.

Fortunately, I have TOS open also was able to monitor the price action.

If Zen Fire has been OK for others, this may be a broker issue, if you also have Dorman (Mirus uses Dorman and RSG).

I can confirm problems with zenfire Mirus .

I have disconnects since yesterday.
I am in Germany right now.

Others reported problems too in Ninja support forum.

This might be quite interesting since I'm using the NT 7 32-bit version without any problems...

I used the 64-bit version. So I tried your idea and used the 32-bit version since yesterday.
Yesterday I thought this might do the trick. But then the same as before, the problems started a little bit later around 7.30 pm CET. And today again.
This happens now every evening....

@TempletonPeck:

I'm hardly daring to say that I still have no issues at all with my data feed...

So, I'm sure you already checked out your internet connections router settings as well as thinking about any minor or major hardware and / or software changes since the problems occurred first ?

Did you talk to NT support and / or Mirus yet ?

@TempletonPeck

I used to have this problem happening intermittently but across a long period of time. I spent ages with NT and ZF support trying to isolate the issue. ZF even gave me access to their beta platform for trading via the Web a couple of years ago so we could experiment if the issues were limited to data feed across NT as my trading platform or did they also occur on the ZF beta Web Trading platform.

This was illuminating as it transpired there were no issues with the datafeed across the Web trading platform, nor was my ability to surf the internet in anyway affected.

It ended up that all the issues were at my or my ISP's end.

To see if my issues can help with your situation please advise the following:

- is this issue just with DAX or is it happening with any instrument that your broker and ZF support.
- are there any error messages in your router log. If so what are they and how frequently are they occurring.
- what type of internet connection do you have eg fibre, ADSL (if so what version) etc
- have you recently changed anything to do with your setup eg internet provider, type of data plan with your ISP, hardware, modem/router (incl firmware upgrade) etc
- has your ISP recently advised of any change to the type of broadband connection they are providing you ie change to technical specifications.

Thanks guys for your suggestions.

I did not change anything on my side (hardware/ software/router).

After I read in the NT forum and the telekom forum I am sure the issues are at my ISPs end (Deutsche Telekom).

Here is the link to the NT thread Continued connection problems Zenfire Germany Telekom Rithmic - [AUTOLINK]NinjaTrader[/AUTOLINK] Support Forum

and a post from a guy who describes the situation:

"I can confirm that there is a problem with Deutsche Telekom ISP and Zen-Fire/Rithmic data feed.

For me it started early in december last year. In the evening(CET) the data feed gets a delay of some seconds around 16:00/17:00. Then it gets progressively worse and usually at arround 19:00 i get constant reconnects.

I ran multiple trace routes over the last month and they always look the same.
https://s1.directupload.net/images/130114/bwis6cef.png

There is always one server of Deutsche Telekom that has high packet loss. And it is always the gateway server that connects the network of Deutsche Telekom with the network of NTT Communications.
When i run the trace route in the night (02:00 CET) that server has 0% packet loss.

I already contacted Deutsche Telekom but have not heard back from them. "

I am in contact with my ISP now and they want me to take "tracerts" when the issues occur.

@TempletonPeck

Sounds like a plan.

Looks like your ISP is like mine (Telecom New Zealand) - big and dominant.

As you work with them try these two things that solved my issues with my ISP (assuming you are happy your router is producing no errors) - and I hope I am not preaching to the knowledgable, so if you have already done this I appologise:

1/ Insist to your ISP that 'inter leaving' is turned OFF. Most on-line gamers insist on this and if you Google it you will see explanations as to why. My ISP by default turns it on, so what I have to remember is everytime (not often) that I change my phone/data plan with my ISP I have to give them an instruction to turn interleaving off as it will be turned on automatically with the data plan change.

2/ This one is a bit more complicated. Are you on an unlimited data plan with your ISP? If so does your ISP reserve the right to implemnet data profiling to preserve a fair use policy? The fact that your problems are at peak times suggest they do invoke this right ie they want to make sure everyone has a reasonable internet experience at peak times and that these users are not being disadvantaged by streaming and file torrent users hogging all the bandwidth. Even if you are not on an unlimited data plan, your ISP may still have the right to invoke data throttling/data profiling.

You may well say 'but futures trading data from ZF hardly uses any data/bandwidth' - read on.

Now I am not a technical person. But in my case I could not understand why I was getting frequent ZF data disconnections with price bars on the charts freezing as no data came in and yet my web surfing (using a browser such as Chrome or IE) to go to various URL's was COMPLETELEY unaffected at the SAME time ZF was losing connection.

Even more intriging was that I also had NT and ZF running on my son's laptop on the same router (both via LAN not wireless) at the SAME time (with the same instruments eg DAX, CL etc) and his disconnections were at DIFFERENT times to mine. If the problem was the exchange, ZF, submarine cables to NZ etc, how could the disconnections be at DIFFERENT times.

The answer was, you guessed it, my ISP had invoked data throttling/profiling. I was on an unlimited data plan and they had the right to do this to ensure fair use. Now, here is the technical bit, apparentely surfing to a URL is different to streaming a video/movie or downloading from a file sharing site and an ISP is able to affect the performance of doing the later without affecting your ability to surf a URL. Unfortunately for us traders electronic futures data as pushed out by the likes of ZF is the same type of data as video/audio streaming or downloading from a file sharing site. SO THE ZF DATA CONNECTION WAS BEING TREATED AS BAD BOY DATA BY MY ISP's DATA THROTTLING POLICY even though trading data uses next to no bandwidth.

So what's the solution: in my case it was to change plans to a capped data plan ie I am now restricted to 150Gb a month, but that is way more than I need. They key thing is this plan is NOT subject to data profiling/throttling.

My problem was solved just like that, but it took me 9 months of frustration to get to this point.

You may have to push your ISP quite hard to confirm what of this applies to you, especially if they are not as transparent about data throttling policy as Telecom NZ is. Of course the first thing your ISP will do is blame everyone else in the chain.

Good luck.

Let us know how you get on.

Failing all that you could always move to NZ and join Telecom NZ

Can someone provide IP address for ZF gateways ? Market data VS order IP and even USA vs Europe vs Asia gatewys if numerous exists. I'd like to perform various tests -t ping, tracert on different machines. I have one only, beta.zen-fire.com but it's just an approximation. Thanks in advance
