I had Tos not to long ago. The execution is ok, not the best for futures. Youll find most other brokers have faster speeds. Just compare TOS active trader to most other Doms and youll see the difference.

what is ur thoughts on order entry... going in with a market with 2 limits hooked to it...a profit limit at 3 ticks and 4 tick loss limit. You know I have a indicator telling me to enter, do u think in real time under normal conditions my stop are too tight and the market will whiphlash my stops. In demo my fills are around 1 sec fill, then market moves to my profit limit stop, so in 10-30 seconds I'm out.

rad one other thing you must consider with your setup is commissions. This is magnified for scalpers. When you test make sure you are accounting for commissions. Another is slippage which again because so many trades are being taken by a scalper you will get more slips. I have no problem with scalping it works well for some but commissions and slips factor in a big way and are part of what makes it so difficult. Your tight setup could easily be eaten by slippage and commissions.

"The day I became a winning trader was the day it became boring. Daily losses no longer bother me and daily wins no longer excited me. Took years of pain and busting a few accounts before finally got my mind right. I survived the darkness within and now just chillax and let my black box do the work."

I use TOS also but only for charts. I'd recommend using Interactivebrokers for order entry. You can setup hotkeys with OCO orders that will do what you're looking to do. good luck.

Also, someone mentioned that TOS lags in a fast moving market. this is so very true. note that whatever td ameritrade gets into it eventually turns into a pile of crap.

Surprisingly, the platform seems to be getting better and better with TD at the helm.
My fills are not always as fast as I would like them. Sometimes I just hit market
to get what I want. Someone on this board has the quote, "Don't be a d1ck for a tick".
So true. When I move towards automating my strategy I will definitely be using
someone else unless TD pulls a rabbit out of a hat.

Hey, first post on this site. I use ToS and I haven't noticed a problem with the site but I have noticed a problem with all 3 of my computers. I have some scripts running and these things really get bogged down so I did some checking. One has a decent processor but only 2 GB of ram and it won't handle it. The other two have 3GB and 4GB of ram which is enough but the processors are maxed out.

I'm going to get one of the 'bad boys' computers and that should fix my problems. As Massive said, I use market orders to make sure I get what I want when I want it. Don't be a dick for a tick, or even two.

I'm just suggesting that you monitor the performance on your computer if you're having delay issues.

Rithmic

ToS is a good choice for options traders with their advanced analytical tools, however the same cannot be said for intraday futures traders. The majority of their business is options related, and although they are trying to grow the futures side of their business, their feed is unreliable and slow compared with others, and on top of that their commissions are high. I have personal experience with ToS, Tradestation, Transact, Interactive Brokers, CQG, TT, Zenfire & Rithmic.

If you are just trading futures, I would recommend either TT or Rithmic depending on whether you are intending to use your execution feed for charting purposes. TT is best used in conjunction with X_Trader for spread trading and scalping off the DOM, as their charts are very basic. They do provide a Fix adapter to plug into multiple charting platforms such as NT, MC etc, although it can have issues depending upon the implementation and no historical data. Most small retail chart traders who want reliable unfiltered tick data and don't require accurate historical bid/ask data from a data provider such as DTN IQ, are best to go with a broker that uses Rithmic IMO. I use Optimus futures and would highly recommend them. I don't have any affiliation with any brokers or data providers, and am speaking from personal experience. Feel free to ask any questions, and I'm more than happy to give honest feedback on any of the feeds mentioned above.

Trade well

Trading is: Having the KNOWLEDGE to know when the odds are in my favour, having the PATIENCE to wait for that moment, then having the DISCIPLINE to handle the trade properly when it goes in my favour and properly when it goes against me
