If you are day trading then it is wise to go for futures unless if you have a big account where you can get very good deals on fills and spread from some brokers. I think even FXCM is doing such a deal but the account has to be bigger than 30k i think. I have recently opened an account with FXCM with their RAW spread deal which has been ok so far. will keep you posted. I also have accounts with Dukascopy, Alpari UK, FXopen and Interactive brokers for futures.
spot forex best for swing and long term trading IMO.

...I am just found of the concept of a centralized exchange, and true price discovery mechanisms...

Lornz, what do you mean by 'true price discovery mechanisms'? Never heard that expression before.

@BigMike, i use Oanda as a secondary broker and i like them very much. Very flexible and simple platform. Can be used with the most basic computer. Spreads are good during normal trading conditions. In many cases, the charts are cleaner than what i get with Ninja and Zen-Fire for the same currencies (EUR/USD vs 6E). The big disadvantage i see with MBtrading is that they are not regulated in Canada so it's impossible to open an account with them.

I have used them for a while. I did not have enough trades and time with them to really give you a proper suggestions. I did not have any issues whole I was with them and the spreads are quite competitive.

.

It seems some of my synapses might have been incapacitated at the time; I meant to say "fond of".

Price discovery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia vs. just getting a quote from your broker, which incidentally also takes the other side of your trades. This in itself is not a problem, there has to be someone on the other side of your trades. The problem arises when the broker keeps the positive slippage and gives the negative to you. Over time that can amount to a lot of money...
