Hi, for Crude I cancel the order after 10 ticks or if a new candle occurs (what happens first), otherwise I wait.

Yes, that is what I am thinking of doing as well. If price after 10-15 ticks, I simply cancel the trade.

If you are looking for a day trading system on CL, then you could consider closing the position at the end of the session instead of a trailing stop or profit target. Use pit session times.
