THIS is really something I have been considering quite seriously. But I've been wanting to find somebody recommended by other traders. You get a lot of people that are full of crap in the world of online coaching. I been thinking more of trying to see a psychologist as opposed to coach, but I guess that is semantics.

I agree there are a lot of scammers out there. But in the end I think it does not matter how you address it as long as you do.

I personally pay my coach on an hourly basis. And the first 30min where not charged because we wanted to get to know each other and I wanted to figure out if it is the right guy to work with. Give it a shot. And try to keep your monetary risk as small as possible, then I think nothing serious can happen.

Hope it helps,
Wernersabel

Great post and great thread, you'll get there. It's a long process.

I pay for mentoring in options. My mentor focuses on risk management above all else.

As for going off plan, getting off track, read some of the writing by Jared Tendler on the kinds of "tilt". He coaches pro tennis players as well as poker players and traders. I have found his writing on tilt from "Mental Game of Poker" to be a constant daily inspiration. He is all over Youtube, too.

I do something very similar. I have a rule to not trade in the middle of the day in the middle of the day’s range. If at any point in the first couple hours I’ve seen both short and long setups (indicating range day), once 11:30-12:00 EST rolls around I put a big comment across the middle of the chart saying “don’t trade here”... Healthy reminder for when I come back an hour or so later and we’re still bouncing around in there...
