Good post Mike and this is a really interesting thread folks with some good links too so keep up the good posts.

Now at the moment cant really contribute much to this but I agree that there are vast advantages of looking at such NLP, but I guess this also depends on what your going through, where your at, where you have been and what obstacles (challenges) you continue or seem to face or come up against that you wish to overcome.

A while back I came across some Mp3's that were not really talk, chat or had music in the files but rather had Frequency tones in the Mp3's and for what I remember you play them for X amount of time (or while you trade) and it puts your head more so in the decision stage (in the zone perhaps) for undoing doubt or wrong, be it the trade goes your way or not (it doesn't matter) type of thing.

I actually thought I downloaded these so called Frequencies or had a link written in a text file but for the life of me cannot seem to find them.

Saying that, I do wonder at times about this, as one of my LCD monitors tends to have a transformer frequency noise, or as Dell has said to me, it is the CCFL tubes that can make a pitch on some screens, and on another identical screen another one can also start up but only when its colder for some reason.

I have my suspicions about all this, but I am already sensitive to hearing higher frequencies and if I can only find the tone/frequencies previously written where ever they maybe I can make up my own tone waves/mp3s to suit.

Will post back here should I obtain this information.

Or if somebody also happens to have come across or read the same and know similar, please share.

Cheers lads

The page to download MP3

Hi Studio88,
Below is the page you can download the sound you are looking for:
Quantum Mind Power • View topic - Announcing... "Alpha Flight"
Time ago I asked to Dr. Brett how to get concentration on trade and he told me to use bio-feedback, which have something similar to the Alpha Flight.
I visited the page that Vital had mentioned:
Trading psychology - Coaching for traders
and felt it is the best work I found about NLP and trading.
All the best

Mike,

I have trained as an NLP Master Practitioner and Hypnotherapist (although I have never practiced professionally). NLP is about modeling successful behavior and how the mind learns to do things. Since most of us do not have a successful trading model sitting in front of us (and Faulkner discusses how we would likely miss what the real keys to trading success are even if we did) we can only imagine what a successful trading model would look like. Fortunately, the imagination (of this model) is all the mind needs to make the leap and learn the behaviors. The mind (well subconscious) cannot really distinguish between what is imagined and what is real. So, through properly designed NLP patterns (mind exercises), we can reprogram the mind into adopting these new behaviors. These NLP patterns need to be re-run repeatedly as the mind tends to revert back to previous states. It requires reinforcement.

If one is interested in this I would suggest several weeks (or months) of work with a trained Hypnotherapist, also trained in NLP. You could also get more value by working on some things not related to trading like smoking cessation or weight loss (that's one I need to work on) to get results in other areas of your life.

One of the values I found using these patterns is the concept of personal ecology. When looking to change a behavior a good practitioner will find out what benefit we are currently getting from it. Like many smokers get a secondary benefit from smoking such as "the smoke break gives them a little time away from their desk - a little me-time" or "they have a connection with a fellow smoker out on the terrace" for instance. Giving up smoking would mean also giving up these things they value. So the concept of personal ecology is a process of honoring that these secondary benefits are important also and acknowledging that we are willing to give them up too. NLP holds that these secondary benefits are why people often fail when trying to change a behavior using other forms of talk-therapy.

As for books/videos of NLP and trading: I have seen none that specifically use both. I have many books on both (including Bandler's Frogs to Princes) but as another poster mentioned, reading books is not that effective when it comes to learning NLP.

G&M

Let me guess...John Grinder...not Richard Bandler...

NeuralLanguagePrograming,

Does it work or not? Well you can ask Tony Robins! After living in his car, he has managed to built himself a multimillion empire. Who payed for it?! Guys like us!
Like us?

Well, yes!; guys that are willing to accept that there's is something "wrong" with them (in my opinion there's something wrong with all of us, nobody is perfect, but very few want to admit that), and are brave enough in order to wish for and wanting to do something about it.

Congratulations Tony!

Does it help then?

Yes and No! It is all about how deep rooted your problem is! See it this way; you have a bag full of shit and you take a new and clean bag, and put the bag full of shit (pardon my language, but it is necessary to amplify) in it.

Does the shit disappear? No! But you may decrease the smell temporary. So, what is there to do?

Get rid of the bag full of shit, of course! Does NLP do that for you?
Don't know, I haven't tried it. Should I shut up then, and erase my lines above?

I'll stick with them and keep them!

Why?

Because it's not about what I'm telling you! It is all about what your mind tells you, and how willing it is to accept NLP as something that works.

Believe me, it's not more complicated than that!

If I'm telling you RIGHT NOW, that you're the worlds greatest trader, and you'll have a wining ratio of 90% or more from now on! Would that be true and work for you?

Yes, if you'll believe me!

Just think of how your visit to your doctor went the last time you were there!

Tony Robbins is a low life con who got as much understanding of "NLP" as the wind I just passed thinking about that creep...

OK, well I have a program called Millionaire's Mindset by Patrick Stockhausen. Apparently it's a combination of NLP and some other techniques. There's three parts to the program and the first one is called Total Mind Reprogram. You're supposed to listen to it with headphones because at various times, there's a load of different phrases coming all at once and overlapping each other, so you're hearing one thing in one ear and another thing in the other year. Well, you're supposed to listen to it during the day, but lots of times it's bedtime and I end up falling asleep to it. Of of the content must be sticking in my head though, because I find myself saying the phrases occasionally during trading, much to my dismay.

There are two other parts, one to listen to before trading, similar to Trading Mind Software, and the third one you listen to while you're trading. This one the overlapping phrases I described above, except it's continuous. I guess it's supposed to distract your mind enough so you're paying attention to what's happening on screen. I've used it a few times, but when there's a lot of heat in the trade, I find it distracting.

Woah

This thread is kind of trippy!

If it weren't for Charles Faulkner, I would have totally disregarded NLP as quackery. I still don't know too much about it, but my early opinion of it at this stage is this:

You can sort NLP concepts into two general categories. 1.) Things that work and are repeatable, so for all intents and purposes can be called 'true.' Probably don't exist in traditional models of psychology, and that's ok.

2.) Speculation...exploration of ideas....but presented as facts.

The problem is you have discern the good from bad information. It's unrealistic to think that the authors of NLP 'figured it all out', but it is realistic to think that they may have figured a few things out.

NLP concepts are based on hypnosis, body language reading/cold reading,etc...
it's a bit "crazy" because the main founder try to cure people from mental disease...
it's nothing new in it self.
i would rather advice you look into hypnosis, wich is one you understand how it work is more like a relaxation tool and is recognized for medical purpose.
it's mainly going to reach to your subconscious by using presuppositions and then pacing then leading.
it's really close to meditation in it's form, but there is way too much "spiritual BS"sales pitch everywhere so if you are interest look into scientific or medical books for valid information.
Personally i use self-hypnosis because meditation doesn't suit me but it is really the same just a different way to reach to a relax state of mind.
