Now, about being open minded. Our biggest problem as humans is our mind (read ego), and its projection upon things. Everyone that we perceive outside of our selves is actually a mirror of us. How come?
Well, think of it as a projection that only contains your own personal ingredients. You're perceiving another human being in front of you, but all the attributes you're giving him/her are based on your set of information stored in your mind. Hence the mirror effect.
So maybe that's why I wish for the more open minded and conscious state. But overall I still believe that we're heading towards an era where "soft science" is taking over the "hard". And if you want to see a change (and we definitely need it as humans) then become the change instead of, well you know...the normal, it's impossible, it doesn't matter if I make the change and no one else will follow, etc., etc..
And yes, those mortal fools... I kind of like that line....sounds like a line from a movie!
One way of seeing them is not to see them. See it as those @sholes banks, that I'm draining!
Sorry for that one! It was personal. For me it is a moral thing! It's better for me to think and feel, that I'm taking money from the banks, instead of "innocent" traders!

During the 60' it was made an experiment where a group of people were wearing special made glasses. Those glasses made them see the world upside down. After a period of 3 weeks, the brain made the shift back to "normal", meaning that even though one saw the world upside down with those glasses, the people that had them wearing for 3 weeks, made the change back to "normal" due to their brain.
The only problem was that as soon as they took them off, the world was upside down again. So it took them another additional 3 weeks in order to shift back.
Thanks to this experiment, we learned that it takes about 3 weeks to implement a change into our subconscious mind. Remember, everything that is a habit for you is so because it's rooted in your subconscious mind.
So I very much agree both with you and Steenbarger!
Guys put on your glasses and GO FOR IT! Three weeks it's all it takes!
But then again, you have to see that you're making it right and correct. Quoting Fat Tails "But this requires thousands of hours of well-spent screentime."
The last part (the one with thousands of hours) is though for the being unconsciously competent part. So put your focus on finding what WORKS FOR YOU! And remember guys that if you spend those hours wrong, it's not even enough with 10 thousands of hours.
Go for quality instead of quantity. The quantity is a bi product, that comes along.
Well, Fat Tails, we seem to have found an equal frequency somehow!
But I still wish to emphasize, the projection of our expectations and how important that is. But that I'll do in the reply's to come!

the thousand hours of screentime is not for putting on the glasses but for building them. I agree, if you take a master as a mentor who has a pair of glasses for you, that might speed up the process.
However, this would leave you vulnerable. The markets change all the time, and the trading approach of the master may not work in a couple of months time. Then you will have to run back to your optometrist to get new glasses. Just putting on new glasses and start trading is like flying a passenger plane after having read the instruction manual. If you take over during flight, it will work, but if you run into trouble you need to hand back the joy stick to the real pilot.
You can't buy money and you can't buy experience.
That said, I am suspicious that you wrote those lines hoping we would forget about the pic of Simba.
Maybe.....I will post a picture of Simba! Fist I have to catch him in a glorious position!

You put him somewhere up. That makes him already look more important. Then you look for his most impressive side. Just like the Simba below.
The Simba below is a copy of the Idstedt-Lion, which had been installed by the Danish army in Flensburg after their victory in 1850. The lion is the heraldic animal of Denmark. After the German-Danish war of 1864 Prussian and Austrian troops reconquered Schleswig and brought the original lion, somewhat damaged, to Berlin, where it was restaurated and then spent some 80 years of holidays. Eisenhower discovered the lion in 1945 and sent it back to Copenhagen. There are still ongoing discussions between the German and Danish Government to reinstall the original lion in Flensburg. Actually this is planned for September, 10, 2010.
The copy below was commanded by a banker in 1874 and has remained in Berlin. I just remembered this pic, when you were talking about a glorious position.
