All things in moderation.

A cup of a really good coffee can be the start to a great day. Like anything the higher the quality the better the effect, usually. A good cup of coffee, a good piece of sushi, a good beer, a nice wine, a good liquor.

If I were in Columbia, Italy, or any other place that had a good rep for coffee I would gladly experience them.

And for the record I usually drink 1 cup of coffee a day when I first wake up. Sometimes on Saturdays I will drink a second cup if I am lounging around the house.

Life is short, drink more coffee, more beer, and eat more bacon.

Plus one for Bacon.

And I'll add another one for any crustaceans. Always eat a lobster when you have a chance, it's a sign of good luck. Oysters, shrimp, crab are all gifts from our creator. Little ocean treats of treasure waiting graciously. That's why they crawl into those traps.

and it works for me to be alert without being wired. It is mixed with vitimins. Google it, it is not cheat, made by a company named Eniva, which probably makes one of the best liquid vitimins one can take, my two cents, thought I would share. New here and reading posts and sharing where it fits.

That is no country for old men. The young
In one another’s arms, birds in the trees
—Those dying generations—at their song,
The salmon-falls, the mackerel-crowded seas,
Fish, flesh, or fowl, commend all summer long
...

I love coffee. I have a cup everyday before I start trading. It keeps me awake and alert because I cannot make good trading decisions when I am feeling drowsy.

I have a bucket of it, before, during and after trading. It keeps me calm and relaxed (I'm not kidding, it does.)

Different strokes for different folks....

Coffee is critical, plus it also allows for a little break time to get away from the screen a bit. A break is sometimes all that is needed, really, to get me charged up again.

Over the years I've had to cut myself off after noon, simply because it would interfere with my sleep, and that would be detrimental.

Just don't overdo it and get an ulcer like my aunt!

Not sleeping enough is not something to be proud of. There is no way around the fact that you are hurting your own mental performance if you don't sleep enough. To me the best things you can do in life is make sleep and hydration non-negotiable.
Once you have those two tuned, coffee/espresso/caffeine is just that much better as a mental amplifier.
