5) Shopping at Victoria Secrets with her and commenting about how I really should be long this stock, and then striking up a conversation with the acting manager (who I think was pretty) in an effort to learn more about the business. - FGF could be confused with the numbers I am writing down

Wouldn't recommend shopping at Victoria's Secret. At a similar price range, I'd recommend Princesse tam tam - I think the construction and quality is much finer; it's affordable and modern. Their triangle bras and nightwear especially exude young femininity and sophistication.

I don't know why but there's a particular product line at VS that pragmatic, work-oriented girls especially like to wear. I'm told it's because it's comfortably padded, does not have frilly lace and comes in a natural color so that it wouldn't show through a shirt or something. But they will also blame you if your laundry machine destroys it by no fault of yours or your laundry machine's - so construction is important. Huit has a good selection of substitutes for that VS product, except with better construction.

If you're looking for anything that's a step above, I advise that the embroidery and needlework should either originate from St. Gallen in Appenzell, Switzerland, stitched on the finest cambric, or from Lustenau in Austria. Its lace should come from the Nord-Pas de Calais region of France, woven on Leavers loom. These are usually sufficient tests of a product's quality and value - VS is often overpriced in this regard.

Of course, good underwear must be dry clean only - it gives you a valid reason if your girlfriend didn't read the fine print on the label and the piece gets destroyed in your washer/dryer.

If you're hard-pressed to find stores in the U.S. - I'd also recommend Aubade, Simone Pérèle and La Perla - which should have several. Any lingerie or departmental store that imports from Europe should carry their products. Note for instance that it's no point buying the cheapest in the line though - the materials and construction on La Perla's low cost range are poorer than Princesse tam tam's for the same cost, so you will probably have to shell out $200+ for a good pair.

For other forms of nightwear, robes, home dresses and chemises, that accentuate your girlfriend, Cadolle generally has a good selection. I'd also recommend Carine Gilson's designs if not that they don't have a boutique in the U.S. and it's generally difficult to find them here.

My thoughts are don't associate trading with everything you have in your life.
Personally, I would never be with someone that talked about their work/business 24/7.
That would get old, super quick!

Yeah, unfortunately most of that knowledge was imparted to me by another woman, so I keep it from my now-wife.

Honest and true story: One of my ex-girlfriends was an underwear model with a moderate level of fame (she had a Wikipedia article). I fondly recall that after spending our first night together, there was a moment when she got into the shower. Now, you know that awkward sensation when you're just sitting there staring blankly into space, there's nothing to do and no one to talk to, and at the same time you feel as though you've scored a goal in the World Cup. And bear in mind (and forgive me) that this was the younger me with hormonal tendencies and a general immaturity about the opposite sex, but I suddenly became extremely curious what underwear models wear in their daily lives... I mean, it's like finding out what brand of tennis racquets Roger Federer uses!

Excited, I rolled over, expecting a groundbreaking discovery and some French name that I can't pronounce, and took a look at the label: H&M.

Okay...

That said, she did have a very commanding knowledge of lingerie and I eventually picked up a lot of it from her. But the moral of the story was: I learned from that experience that most women don't care about the aesthetics of their underwear, even if that's their professional job. Hence, I feel it's the responsibility of the man to do his research on your girlfriend/wife's underwear, just as it's usually your responsibility to figure out the technical specs of the family car.

I think that women like passionate man, so if you will be passionate about your trading and you still can meet and talk normally, she will be fine.
Probably, in time, she will won't to change you and ask you to get a real JOB, but that's standard every time.

The title of this thread is misleading. It assumes you can actively manage a woman. Its a faulty premise to begin with, therefore your trade (managing a woman) is destined to fail. Best to cut your losses now and figure out how to have the FGF without the "managing" premise as part of your thinking.

In my limited view, the best possible option would be to make so much darn money she doesn't care what you do...or how you do it......this brings up another set of problems but that's a subject for a different thread.

Good luck....

Agreed - it's a bit like asking the best way to tame a crocodile or herd cats....

Men and women are so different, it's sort of funny that we have to live together. I do like women and I love my wife - but honestly - we do annoy each other sometimes - just on account of me being a man and her being a woman.

My approach to women was always to try to find a cute yet tolerant woman and then develop the ability to tune out.

I saw a comedian a few weeks ago he put it best....

"Women say we can't multi-task. That's not true - we can listen AND not give a f*** at the same time".
