I don't trust the traditional medical establishment much ( long story). Anyway I see a Naturopath ND who focuses on excersize and nutrition. Here ie a recipe that both my wife and I really like and take within an hour of working out.

1 cup blueberries (frozen)
1 cup mixed fruit or strawberries
1 cup almond milk
blended
2 scoops Thorne mediclear +
2 fish oil capsules

for general health.
It tastes awesome after workouts.

I've been using a protein shake pretty close to this recipe. I've been experimenting with some changes to it lately, so I might try this out. Thanks.

My primary exercise is hillwalking. I try to get in at least 10,000 steps a day. 20,000 would be an optimum target.

While I am walking I do a lot of "slow thinking." I arrive at viewpoints and conclusions that I cannot reach any other way, certainly not while glued to the screen. I also listen to podcasts while walking. Amazing what you can learn from an hour a day of podcasts. I find it hard to take an hour out to read each day, but somehow podcasts make that possible, I guess justified as multitasking.

I also go out on the bicycle as often as possible and do a 30 km or so ride.

Another sort of slow thinking state of mind, or at least a totally different state of mind, is working with my hands in the workshop. A different part of my brain kicks in, the saw blade starts rotating. This is refreshing in a way nothing else is.

Workouts I do in the office using the iPhone "You Are Your Own Gym" app, which is a bodyweight training program. I monitor this on the buddy system with a friend via text messages. I often miss these sessions, I need to do more.

When the weather is good and the wind is really intense I go sailing. I have a laser dinghy at the local marina. This gets one into another slow thinking mental state like walking, only different. Highly recommended.

I recently discovered that here on the lake we have some insanely intense windsurfing, further up the lake, so one of my goals for next year is going to be to learn windsurfing and join the windsurfing community on the lake. Keep learning something new.

Is sex to be considered mind/body exercise?

I've been doing bodybuilding style of workouts for nearly 5 years.
I started doing CrossFit a few months ago to bring up my endurance and conditioning.
I also train on a powerlifting team.
I'll be doing a half marathon in May.

Here's today's workout

5 Rounds for time of:

800m Run
25 Pull Ups

Then:

Back Squat: 30 Reps at a weight of your choice.

Did the 4k run and 125 pull ups in 30:41

Did 30 back squat reps @ 185 lbs. ass to grass This was relatively easy for me. I"m at 175 lbs right now @ 5'9"

I go mountain biking 2-3 times per week. I also have an elliptical and boxing bag at home, so I do a bit of a home workout twice per week. So on average I do some form of exercise 4-5 times per week.

I use to also be quite big into Ashtanga Yoga but i've gotten lazy with that lately. I'll probably get back into it again in the new year.

Healthy body, healthy mind.

I perform muay thai (dry + sparring) average about 3 times a week. And 2 times a week or when needed I practice mindfulness stress reduction (only audio files, no live attendance).
