I would be curious to know if there are any equities/options traders on the forum that trade with Schwab ATS that can provide some feedback on their new StreetSmart EDGE Platform.
If I was able to negotiate all my comms on one of my retirement accounts with Fidelity, I am sure Schwab is no different. If you never ask, you never know and as long as your accounts are large enough and they see activity, lowering your trading costs is not an issue for them as they will still make money off you...
so back to my original question, and please set aside any concerns over comms... I dont worry about those personally, anything is negotiable when it comes to comms.
I've negotiated with them as well, and have a lower unadvertised structure grandfathered in. But you still won't get a commission structure of $1-$2 with schwab or fidelity. I mainly use them for IPO's. They always fill me.
Commiss. aside, i don't know about their new platform. They're older one streetsmart pro was horrible. Unusable.
cool... same reason why I wont move one of my accounts from fidelity... I like being able to participate on the IPO's and Private Offerings..
as to the old streetsmart pro, I agree... they just came out with the new one which is supposed to be a re-write, but I dont feel like transferring in $$$ over to them just to play with a platform... so hopefully there will be someone out here that has access to it today.. and can capture better screens..
I managed to get my hands on the application since I really wanted to test it. I find a few things rather cool for their order entry..
- Conditional Orders (still lacking and needs to be developed further)
- Bracket Orders (shows you profits and loss within the ticket)
overall, I like it... I will continue to play with it for the next 2-3 weeks while I have access to it, but it is a bit slow for order entry having to click on things so much, in that regards IBKR with its excel like format has an advantage.
I continue to test it, but there doesnt seem to be a whole lot to test.. the biggest issue that I have is with changing orders once entered.. but it has some cool features.. a small P shows up on the strike where you are holding, and it allows you to click and see P&L, etc... their demo feature is lacking big time, and I dont feel like risking real money today.. specially when I am not yet confortable with the platform...
I like their T&S, it allows you to customize it and even watch specific MMID order flow... I like their interface very much still... just minor tweaking issues here and there that they should address within the platform.
in Summary,
- Clean Interface, it allows window linking and it will autosize against borders
- Issues with autosizing if the window was small and going bigger, it has a zoom feature but that is a waste as it makes things bigger, not the windows themselves.
- Demo mode not all realistic and lacking quite a bit of functionality
- Order Entry, changes in specific, hard to do.. and OE not fast enough still.
