If using an intraday chart will the different data providers like CQG and Rithmic all have the same OHLC prices? I'm following someone using the same platform but our trendlines don't match up. His broker is IB and I assume he is using their data while I'm using the data from the platform. Would that make a difference?

Thanks

Sure, it is possible. It depends on the instrument and some other factors. You'd have to dig into it to figure out exact details.

IB data is filtered data.

It's ES on a 4 hour chart. When you say it's possible, if all settings on the platform are the same, should the OHLC all match between different data sources?

I used to use SC with Denali and there OHLC were different from the others just a little sometimes.

Thanks

Again, you'd probably have to dig into the details. But the data filtering that @miles talks about could be an issue. Maybe too the clock timing is a bit off - I've seen even a millisecond different cause differences in prices. Maybe the last 4 hour bar of the day close is treated differently be different vendors - for example some might use Exchange settlement price, some might use last price traded. Rollover differences probably not a concern unless your charts go back to September.

So, bottom line is what you are seeing does not seem really strange to me. But you have to investigate to find out why...

IB data is filtered data.

So with filtered data it won’t always show the same OHLC as other data services? That may explain the differences.

If you use IB, do you have to use their data?

Thanks
