You could trade live on one PC, then compare results to the Strategy Performance Report. That is what I do. SIM fills in TS are notoriously suspect, even TS tells you their simulation "does not interact with actual market" - whatever that means.
Yes, I think you're right — I don't actually need to trade on the SIM account in the development work, the strategy performance report gives all the information you need. I did run automated trading on the SIM account for my first strategy, just to make sure the automation worked as I expected, which it did, so now I know that, I don't need to SIM trade every strategy.
The Strategy Perf Report and live trading should match pretty well, if 1) your strategy is set up correctly and 2) if you have realistic estimates of slippage.
