I've been a pro subscriber for over 5 years and pay $5 for CME futures data. I was on holiday recently, and my credit card declined the auto subscription. I was unaware as I had no Internet access for a week.
On return, I tried to resubscribed but I'm now forced to pay in GBP, which is 20-40% more expensive. Also, I do all my trading-related accounting in USD, so this is an unnecessary conversion I don't want.
TradingView:
Hello!
Thank you for your message.
Recently, we've been working on improving our payment system. As a result, we have started to introduce billing in local currencies for some regions, and the pricing was changed accordingly. Thus, if your billing address is in the UK, the price for the subscription will be given in GBP (currency).
Me:
Under your new system, that makes it 20-40% more expensive! Can you reinstate the previous subscription I had?
TradingView:
I kindly ask you to refer to the previous reply. The currency depends on your billing address.
Me:
Why are you charging 20-40% more for people in the UK?
TradingView:
The rates might differ depending on the billing residency of the purchaser, this is a widely used practice all over the world.
Netflix is a good example, they charge 4.99EUR for their basic plan in Germany, and for the same plan, they charge 5.99EUR if you live in France.
Please also note that prices in pounds have nothing to do with the USD/GBP exchange rate.
Comparing CME data to a Netflix subscriptions in two different countries (with different shows and licenses) is ridiculous. I wonder if this is a TradingView endorsed response, or if the support agent is going off-script?
I've now canceled my TradingView subscription entirely and requested a refund for the remaining year's subscription purchased in advance.

Hi do not trade equities, just futures and recently tested TradingView and found it was not great for my purposes (it seemed dated) and subsequently tested other tools.
I landed on TradesViz. And tbh i love it and it meets my needs very well. Happy to recommend it as a possible alternative.
To be upfront - I am not on any sort of inducement and am writing this just because I am very happy with the product, it has been reliable and works well with nt8 (without having to buy any add-ons).
