My experience with TradeStation has been quite horrible. They keep overcharging for data subscriptions. They have no simple way to keep track of it. The only reason I caught it the first time was I transferred all the equity out of the account and received an email I had charges overdue. The first CSR essentially told me to figure out the charges myself by going to XYZ in my account. When I finally looked it up, I noticed it was data subscription charges, when I knew full well I had all free subscriptions. Contacted them and they corrected it (supposedly) and issued a quick refund. But it happened again the very next month.

Their platform is also garbage. Was trying to set up a tick chart with "Movement Size" scaling. The time axis was keeping up with last price but the price axis wasn't. Apparently 10.0 no longer has Background Dragging like 9.5, and after fiddling with more settings to get the price axis working I grabbed the candlesticks and moved them off the chart (underneath the bottom indicator essentially) to see if the price axis would finally keep up, then couldn't get them back onto the chart. A CSR tried helping but nothing worked. Went through the Edit Symbol method to get the candlesticks back and it worked, but grabbing the candles again and moving them just slightly (not even off the chart) made them completely disappear again. They suggested scheduling a call with a tech. Fired it up the next day and not only were the candles mysteriously centered, but the price axis was keeping up. That was yesterday. Was trying to use it this morning and it crashed. I'm done with this. I'm fairly new, so maybe I'm being too hard on them and the CSRs have generally been helpful and quick to contact, but seems like a well-established broker shouldn't have these kinds of problems.

So anyone know a broker and a platform or broker/platform combo that works, has tick charts, and order entry macros with hot keys? I've heard good things about MultiCharts, but TradeStation doesn't connect with them. I've used their sister platform TradingView with TradeStation with success, though they don't have tick charts. Also, most brokers, unlike TradeStation, seem to require larger account minimums. My account is only ~$2K. So that's a consideration as well. I have a TD Ameritrade account but their margin requirements for futures are terrible. Commissions are higher for futures also.

Thanks

Hey there -

We support MultiCharts, and we became an official broker partner of TradingView just last week: https://www.tradingview.com/broker/Ironbeam/

We do not have account minimums and would be happy to help you with any other questions you might have.

Use Promo Code FUTURES.IO for $0.45 futures commissions, $0.19 micro commissions HERE. *Promotion only available to new customers. Other fees such as exchange and NFA still apply*

Hey there -

We support MultiCharts, ....

Ah. For both Sierra and MultiCharts I was going by the list on their website. Ironbeam isn't listed on either. Guess I'll submit an application and see how it goes. Thanks.

Welp. Ran into a problem already. The signup is telling me my password is invalid but doesn't tell me why. It's longer than 6 characters.

Took a wild guess it doesn't like special characters. (Two things: It's more secure to be able to include special characters. And second, regardless of the requirements, it's standard practice to tell the user what those requirements are.)

Um. So the Application Completed page says "The only thing left is to fund your account." It doesn't say whether or not the application was approved. Just says it was completed.

I would use Interactive brokers if price is what you are looking for, but you do need to connect to a platform if you want a good experience. Kudos if you can trade on TWS, that thing is awful. On top of that, the datafeed is a meh, and if you trade on tick chart, I don’t think they offer thats
