Hi ,

Just now I saw an ad regarding FXCM Strategy Trader platform. As for now it's beta. Currently I'm using NinjaTrader and having a lot of programming experience, I like their C# based semi open architecture.
This is the first time I see another platform based on C# and I'm curious.

Did anybody here try this new toy ? Any impressions how it compares to NT ? I want to trade, not to learn a new platform, however I'm curious about its features.
Of course, a big problem here is a catholic marriage with FXCM broker. In the past they had a bad opinion, because of requoting, stop hunting , big spreads and inhibiting scalping. Did they become less bucket shop ?

i have downloaded and transfered all my nt indicators into strategy trader since three weeks and for now that look ok.. there's no documentation and the strategy coding is a little bit confusing but not that much.. i think fxcm is more 'respectable' now and to be honest i never had any problem with them..

for the platform remember it's a beta version, so that's mean it's not fully functional and there's some bugs but as far as i can see all my indicators coded for nt work well with small modifications and actually i'm trying to transfer some basic strategy.. i will tell you in two or three day the result with real money..

I installed the strategy Trader and gave it a quick look. At first I noticed it is at least partially a wrapper over an old COM techology, may be from ther previous VB API. At second , it is resource hungry, much more than NT7. At third it seems much less flexible. For example in Ninja home made bar charts can be programmed and indicators / strategies may be applied to them, while in Strategy Trader only predefined bar types are available and I didn't see range bars. While NT7 beta is struggling yet, as for now I'll remain with them.

They are very friendly but I have enough friends . They were slow to fill my orders and the spreads were always higher than Oanda . Marketscope is useful though but overall FXCM wasnt for me , MB is better , not perfect either but better .

I just added the new coding documentation file to the Downloads > Strategy Trader section of the Big Mike Trading forum. I think you will find the new documentation much easier to navigate and use compared to the previous version in Strategy Trader.

Hope it helps!

Jason

I was looking at this today again.

Automated Forex Trading | Strategy Trader Software

It is basically MultiCharts white label, with C# instead of EasyLanguage, right?

Hi Mike,

MultiCharts was one of multiple developers that helped with the creation of the Strategy Trader platform.

@Jason Rogers, shouldnt it be more like .... TSS(aka MC) is strategy trader? my understanding is that FXCM white labels MC as ST and they are using the native language for MC (which is not EL)...

Does anyone know if an API can be built to connect NinjaTrader to place trades to FXCM Pamm account?

I would like my Auto Strategy to trade into my FXCM PAMM account.

If this can be done I would be happy to pay!

Thanks,

JAM

It's not a white label as FXCM owns the Strategy Trader platform.

Interesting... when I look at the core of the program, I find TSS (C) all over the place within the DLL's and other components... which to me means that only way to legally have the TSS software core would be if it was licensed to you.. which would mean you dont own it, but rather you license it as a white label...

The Multi Charts team did all of the programming for for FXCM. Of course FXCM paid for all of the work which means they own it.

hmmmm... I wonít speculate as to ownership, specially when FXCM is stating that TSS was only one participant amongst many, and as such representing the extent of TSS's involvement as not the differentiating factor for the platform (when in fact it appears as if they have written pretty much all the code)... but it looks like by your statement that you believe the same thing I do as to the involvement of TSS on ST.

I find FXCM's statement thus far to be disingenuous as to the origin of the platform... specially when all indications point to StrategyTrader being a by-product of MC (white label) as all it takes is to look at any of the DLL's or components and finds the same exact core engine and code from MC created by TSS, and TSS (c) plastered all over the code, and also.. all you have to do is basically put the products side by side and compare..

is it really hard to provide a direct and clear answer? IMO, no... but who knows.. perhaps the terms of licensing with TSS where such that it does not allow for that disclosure.

so I find this discussion to be a futile effort given the co. answers so far...
