How does your platform broker/data connection cope w/ such volatility?
I'm a Tradestation user and I would be interested to learn how the other platforms are behaving in markets such as those we have in the last 3 weeks.
My conclusion is clear: In days such as today / similar volatility, my Tradestation failed to stay connected - I found it disconnected multiple times, and the funny thing is - it would have been in a winning position.
People don't see that ... and even if it happens, they get all hyped up they have a good strategy, but never would they assess the risk of having the Tradestation data/broker feed choppy to the point of un-usable ...
what's your experience w/ other platforms?

How’s your internet connection and what are your computer specs? I’m running TradeStation as well and I had absolutely zero issues whatsoever. Connection was rock solid, platform handled everything the market threw at it, no problem. Fills were perfect and I basically had zero slippage on stops. Even at the highest times of volatility (open and closing minutes) platform had zero issues. The only issues that I saw was that the matrix couldn’t keep up with the sheer speed of how the indices were moving, but that was to be expected.
There have been times when brokers have stopped taking in orders, BO CO's were also cancelled from broker end. There was also increased margin requirements. Broker charting platform experienced freezes quite a few times too and this was true for almost all brokers in country. This does happen during every high volatility session but usually only with one or two very popular brokers.
But this is all true for my local market, might not be true for others.
