BIGM, I love also multicharts but for my forex trades I just need to place quick orders, would you advise to use the free software of the brokers I use (PFG and Dukascopy) ? Problem is I loose time. With the charttrader in NT it's CLICK and its done !!! thanks

Did multicharts ever crashed on you ?

Try MCFX also by TSSupport.
I'm going to try it soon.

I'm pleased to read the various replies on the various platforms. I have been and continue to do my research looking for a platform with a simple and "visually friendly" DOM for trading eminis. Originally my research was pointing to Ninja Trader however your posts issue some caution. I came across OEC TRADER v3.5 which appears to have a DOM which meets my requirement.

(See website openecry.com/software/softwarehighlights.cfm
and youtube.com/oectrader#p/u/5/yltUmb7oCgk and associated links on website to see set up)

Has anyone used OEC TRADER and if so what has been your experience? Many thanks for you comments in anticipation.

Cheers

Chucky

I used OEC trader a couple of years ago, it was a really good platform. Good in all areas. The DOM is one of the best I've seen.
I left because of the high commissions.

Thanks Jagui
I notice on your profile you use Ninja Trader. What has been your experience with the NT platform in terms of the issues which started this thread - ie slow, crashes etc.

And how would you compare NT with the OEC platform on functionality and reliability. Which broker did you use OEC with and which broker do you use NT with? How different are the commissions between the two brokers you used? What did you trade on OEC and do you trade the same on NT? I am looking at trading eminis.

Ah the pursuit of a really reliable platform with a good DOM seems a real challenge.

Many thanks again.

Chucky

Hi mgerada,

ninja had always worked fine for me, but I don't use automated strategied nor the dom, I only use chart trader and a dozen indicators on about ten charts. I personally think that ninja, offering the whole .NET to the programmer, also offers more opportunities to crash or to slow the system by less than optimal programming. Sure, there are bugs and annoying thins, but never had a problem with live trades and I'm happy now.
I also optimize by myself all the indicators I use.
The only time I needed techical support I got the right answer... after 2 days of emailing back and forth.

OEC has more views than ninja, is more of a general platform, it excels in the dom. Ninja excel in charting, if you ask me.

I used OEC with Open e-cry, traded FESX at 5.2 euro roundturn, now I'm trading FESX with ninja through Velocity at 1.76 roundturn, that's a big difference.

OEC was reliable when I used it, and the DOM is good, if you manage to get low commissions.

Someone told me that Infinity futures has a really good DOM.

Hi Jagui

Many thanks for your quick response. Your information gives me much more to base my decision on and hopefully I can get a reasonable broker commission rate.

May your trades be well chosen and your profits outstanding! Happy trading.

Have an awesome day/night.

I've been using Bracket Trader as my DOM for the several years without of any problems (crashes etc.). I would like to say it is very robust software. Includes the basic automation as scaling, stoplosses (normal/trailed) and multi targets w/ trailing. Very readable ladder. It can be used for free with some limitations but does not much cost for full version (one time payment).

Another good DOM comes from Button Trader. Worth to look also.

I can recommend them both.

@Scalpguy,

I've been reading some good things about Bracket Trader and Button Trader. These platforms probably deserve their own thread so they can be properly discussed If your up to it that would be great, I for one have some questions about them maybe you can answer if you'd be willing to start new threads.

Mike

Hi SG

Bracket Trader is not going to be free anymore (starting early Sep). $100 one-time fee will become an annual membership fee as well. I've been using the free version for some weeks now. Possibly buy the 1-time membership before the deadline.

How can I find out what other symbols I can add to the default list? For example, CL and 6E Futures currently not on the list. Appreciate your tips. Thank you.

Beth

Hi,

you're right the pricing has changed. Didn't know that.

I can't remeber where I got this information (maybe I wrote an email to the support but I have added those symbols to my list (menu:Tools/AddDelete symbols).

CL uses symbol CL (Exchange NYMEX)
6E uses symbol EUR (Exchange GLOBEX)

If you have something you would like to know about the Bracket Trader I suggest you to visit their support forum found in their web site (sorry I cannot post links, im too newbie here).
