Ordered NOBS Trading course, makes sense, lots of good stuff.

Appreciate your chart and comment, AT.

Have you gone through this course? I remember being interested in it back in the day due to not having much experience with the DOM and order flow and wanting to deepen my knowledge in that area of trading.

Have you gone through this course? I remember being interested in it back in the day due to not having much experience with the DOM and order flow and wanting to deepen my knowledge in that area of trading.

Thanks, I went through the course ( twice ) and it is well worth the money. Still having a hard time "watching the DOM" and being able to make actionable positive decisions just off watching the DOM. "John says you should turn off your charts and watch the DOM....that's what the professionals do.." Things just seem to happen too fast for me to get a read on what the smart/big money is doing - but that may be because NinjaTrader's DOM isn't the best for John's style of trading. John says "take a month and just watch the DOM." With Ninja's market replay I can get a month's worth of watching done in a few days and make trades using the playback connection. So when my trading plan risk rules are hit, I stop trading live and load up some market data and practice. It's coming along but it is slow. No change without pain for sure!

But John is the real deal. The book is well written, he provides a step by step to progress through the course, and his videos are clear. He basically just tells you in a NO BS way. Not a lot of after market upselling either, though I did just get an invite to subscribe to a month long trading room - but that's it. None of the "last chance before time runs out or you are gonna miss it" type deal - just "here it is take it or leave it - No BS". He has taken the time to answer all of my ( noobie ) questions, and being new to the volume part of the equation I have had some silly ones - but he answered all of them.

One of the questions I have always had about these trading gurus (sic) that offer their stuff is why, if it is so good, are they spending the time selling their stuff instead of being in the market making money with their awesome stuff. The standard line is "I wanna help people...give back for the blessings I've received..blah..blah..." And they keep trying to sell you more stuff. John says that too, but then he says something that I have never heard before ( rough paraphrase ):
I want as many people as I can trading the way I trade...since I am trading with the big money, the more people that jump in just give more momentum to my trades...so if I can get more people trade like me it helps me.... That's a rough paraphrase but it is the first time I have really liked the answer to the question. He's counting on people learning to trade his way, and that will help him make real money - not selling a $80 ebook course.
The biggest takeaway for me was to finally start to understand and come to terms with what makes the markets move - "volume is verification". I started out trading Forex and bought into the "most liquid market in the world" BS and that nobody can move the markets in Forex. Volume as a key factor in making trading decisions was barely mentioned in the courses and software I bought. I find it hard to believe I was successful in forex without this understanding, how little I actually understand and know, and not surprised my futures trading has been so up and down - mostly down. Since getting John's book and learning to apply his principles, I'm above breakeven - and way more confident of my chances at becoming a successful futures trader someday.

John makes it crystal clear that you have to learn how to see when the smart money/big boys are entering the market, what they are doing with pending orders, and then to ask yourself why - what are they up to? And to get into a trade like they would, and on the same side as them. When you see a big increase in volume - start paying attention as you watch the orders being put in and taken off.

So, yes, definitely a good useful and No BS piece of work that I have found helpful to my trading.

Can you provide a link for John’s book? What is the name of it?
