Guys, this is just mho. No great shakes. But what I notice. And the best part...i maybe wrong in my understanding.
This is just my opinion. Not saying good or bad. Just observations. If you have a differing view would love to hear.
Trading is a business which can be passed on if ofcourse good. I am a longtime Tradestation user and also have Ninja on and off. Off late I purchased few indicators for my Ninja platform for OF but i think they are temporary. And Tradestation has bulk of my indicators.
The way the Indicators or am not sure platforms are built has shown me that all my current Ninja indicators which I have paid for are temporary whereas all of my paid for Tradestation indicators are permanent. Will get into specifics below.
1) I have Indicators from Excellent Tradestation developers. Few have now closed shop so I cannot get anything additional from them if I loose what i have for any reason. However what I have will always remain with me even if I reinstall Tradestation software...or change PCs. Does not matter. Ofcourse all ELDs (indicators) are password protected. I do not have to suddenly see my indicators becoming worthless.
2) Ninja. What I am observing through the limited stuff I have on and ofcourse my knowledge on this is very limited. Hence I would love to get a good explanation of this from someone who understands this intricately. I dont think its a platform issue...but probably how indicators are being built? But again I dont know.
I use mainly Ninja to give me stuff like views on Order Flow / Depth / Tape....which maybe missing from some of the excellent fantastic Ladders available on FIO. So I am coming to a conclusion that all my Ninja Indicators are very short time. If the firm I get them from decides to close one fine day for whatever reason. All my effort to understand the indicator or what it did comes to a grinding halt. Why ? as i think some of these indicators need some licensing stuff on the backend and if someone closes shop so goes the licensing.
This is leaving me to ask developers on this site.....of Ninja. That if you come up with good and secure ways of protecting IP and at the same time give users the flexiblity for long term ownership of indicators I think there is a tremendous market for OF based software.
And this is a request to developers on this site who have contributed such immensely into free indicators. Why dont some of you get into Order Flow...you already have Ladders /VWAPs etc. And make Order Flow software and charge the heck of it. But give users the flexibility of keeping the software. I think there are at best 4-8 firms providing excellent OF software so the way i see this....i will buy at the 1st opportunity if someone gives me good OF with flexbility though I may have access to other vendors OF s/w.
Lol...anyways this is my ramblings on a saturday. As far as I can tell...all my Ninja investments into indicators are short time if I do not get permanent licences. Make hay while the sunshines....not necessary I may be able to use it later. Well guys this is what I understand....and hence would love to be corrected.
Either ways one always finds ways..... or maybe get out of OF...in ways i dont have reliance to this. Basically tweak stuff so i dont need it but thats not the ideal route as I loved what i had in OF
thnx n cheers
