MotiveWave - experiences?

Purchased Order Flow edition just over 12 months ago. I was using ThinkOrSwim but wanted better data/speed and less resource heavy platform. As I’m a Mac user, there are very few native (non VM) options (aside from HTML5 which I did not want). Motivewave is one of those options.

I love the platform; fast, great graphics, plenty of customization, and lots of tools other people might like. The one thing I cared more about than anything given how I trade was speed of placing a trade at specific prices; I wanted a single click entry from the chart itself; MW’s price axis trading provides for this.

Experience with customer support has also been great, and I’ve never had any crashes or other glitches. They also seem to provide frequent updates, probably once a month at least with some new addition, many of those additions being something someone requested in the user forum.

If I was not a Mac user, I would consider a few other options (Overcharts or Quantower), but after a year with MW, even if I did switch to PC, I would stick with them. Very happy overall with the decision and platform.

Hiya @jmflukeiii

Thanks. Do you mind answering to below:
1- How is Spot Forex liquidity in TinkOrSwim/TD-Ameritrade comparing to IB?
2- Is the leverage in Spot Forex major pair in TinkOrSwim/TD-Ameritrade is 1:50?
3- Do you use MotiveWave with TD-Ameritrade? Do you trade Spot Forex pairs and will it freeze while major news releases (e.g. NFP, etc)?
4- How do you compare order's Fill in Spot Forex major pairs in TD-Ameritrade to IB?

Tnx and best of luck

I haven't traded Forex for nearly a decade now so can't really comment relative to most of the above relative to Forex questions. However, thinking back to when I did trade Forex - IB had better spreads and commissions than TD. The leverage you quoted sounds about right. And as with futures, I imagine ToS is delayed during news releases, but can't say for certainty.

I have used MW with TD Ameritrade, but only briefly. I trade futures only, and TD doesn't provide for third party software trading of futures, only equities (and perhaps Forex, but do not know).

I stumbled along APEX Trade Copier ( NinjaTrader 8 Trade Copier). It says: "NinjaTrader 8 Trade Copier -
Copy To multiple accounts entries exits stops and adjustments as well as do crossover between micro and mini."

I don't use Ninjatrader and I have Motivewave and R Trader Pro(Rithmic). Can you do the same on those platforms?

Hiya @stumbras

Do you mean just copy trading on MotiveWave-Ultimate? If ye, I think with Java SDK you can do it simply.

Best of luck

Hiya @stumbras

There is a lot of grey area in your project. I believe professional programs in sensitive subjects like Trading in Financial Markets need a proper Software Engineering Architect Doctor to architect, analyze, design, develop this project and then implement this with a highly skilled programming team.

Check out SDK in the attachment and consult with a specialist.

Depending on do you purchased the full licence of Motivewave Ultimate 2,295USD or are you paying the monthly lease price of $159/mo for it, you may experience different situations?

Best of luck

Support for this platform seems to have dried up - on the sales side. Have sent off two unrelated emails with no response in 2 business days.

I would’ve thought they would want my money.

I tried TradeStation for around one month and it was awful, my impression was that TS is too heavvy and execution was really slow. I tried in sim mode only, so I don't know if with real accounts it is better but I was afraid of puttin real money with this platform.
Also the platform used to crash very often (at least one or twice a day). I used a brand new laptop that I paid 3000+ dollars and had 32 GB ram.
In contrast MotiveWave is really light, it is fast and precise. It is not as fast as SierraChart which is my main platform but sierra is not compatible anymore with Rithmic, that's why I also need MotiveWave.

Motivewave sometimes has some lags but they are almost unperceivable.
All in all I think TS is just not well built, their are too many options and graphic stuff but the platform is too unstable for me.
Motivewave has never crashed since I started to use it 3 months ago, with real money.

The only problem with MW is that there are still some "bugs", there are mistakes in the volume profile and reports are not correct. But all in all I can get away with that.

Hiya @SBtrader82

I have the same feeling about Cumulative-Delta as here:

Setting Cumulative-Delta as candles, it shall confirm the reversal at 11:00~12:00 while it definitely doesn't?

?

Tnx and best of luck
