I've been reading a couple interesting opinions here regarding building your own, independent trading platform, so ditching any third-party software. I'm an intermediate level programming skill trader, basically in C#. I've been wondering if is it really worth programming your own platform in a Broker's Api, looking for achieving better performance, solving sync issues...etc To be honest I've been analyzing a couple of advanced samples and it seems to be really out of my league.

Any comment will be highly appreciated

I am actually right in the middle of doing exactly that with an open source platform S# (StockSharp). I have made a dedicated thread

My goals were broker independent, connection independent, fully customizable (hence open source), available to everyone, and highly performant.

As hesitant as I was to use open source, I wish I would have done it sooner. Yes there are bugs, but the support from a distributed community is beyond comparison to a NT or MC.

I've tried NT and MC and although they are great platforms, I quickly found their limitations and they were not able to allow me to run some of the strategies I have.

I admit that I'm a little behind on keeping the thread updated but there is still lots of active work happening.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your interesting approach, it makes a lot of sense looking for those objectives. I'll take a look to StockSharp.

Regards
