I'm writing a paper about the retail trading industry and now it's time to talk about technology. I'm trying to find information about the trading platforms market share, but I'm having a really hard time.
Can someone help me to identify market size (basically any idea about the number of active traders in the US)? And how many (paying) users does popular trading platforms such as NinjaTrader, MetaTrader, MultiCharts or eSignal have?
Any information you can provide me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Mark

Tradestation is a big one you missed. They were a publicly traded company (now owned by Japanese group Monex), so if you look at their old annual reports, you might get a good idea of how big their customer base is.
I'd also recommend you contact each platform company, and say "I am writing a paper, what can you share with me?"
Thank you! That's a good idea, I'll try to look at the old reports. And yes, I'm going to contact each company and ask for help. Maybe that's the only way.
