Anybody here familiar with any of the ORC products? www.orc-group.com
I've looked at their literature a couple of times over the last 10 years but always felt they were too options centric for me. Would be interested in talking to people with experience with ORC (probably ORC Liquidator specifically) and getting a better understanding of what it would and wouldn't be good for.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
My experiences of the suite were extremely positive from a functional standpoint. It's certainly exactly what it says on the tin in that it's a professional level tool that is functionally rich. However in terms of use in the pro retail user space I don't think I'd use it, in fact I don't. The reasons are down to cost and whether for that cost I'd fully utilise those features. I'd say if you're managing a book of multiple products and holding and trading from that inventory for your clients and hedging then it's probably worth it. But as an individual that's not my requirement at this moment. So really depends in the scale and complexity of your business. Specifically in terms of the liquidator product it's going to let you hook in algos and execute complex trading scenarios more suited to client position management for a broker / market maker / firm rather than an individual. But again it depends on your used case so it's subjective to say whether it's of use to you. Data wise they support many of the data feeds and they have their own relatively fast execution gateways (fast for retail not so fast in institutional terms in my opinion) or if you're a member you can connect direct to exchange so very flexible in terms of connectivity.
Bottom line I'd advise trying it if your interested take a look at a broker like advantage futures, I believe they support Orc as a platform talk to them you may be able get a trial / more info.
