FWIW, Sierra Chart has a nice built in alert system that uses audible alerts and can send emails.

If I hold a position overnight I need an audible alert to manage moves outside of London trading hours. Mainly Price alerts at the moment but also backtesting entry and exit signals.

I think they are key if you're doing any sort of automation. In the past in my work life I've looked at email and sms alerting, as well as more recently alerting through a call centre vendor. If an Algo goes wrong you want to know before your account gets wiped out. Unfortunately that means you sometimes get woken in the night whilst you are testing (hopefully not in a live trading scenario).

Yes, I've written indicators that give voice alerts. These are simple wave files of recorded speech. Actually that is not true, they are computer based text to speech using a british female voice that is then converted to a wave file and I call the wavefile with from the alert function directly or the playsound.

If you are talking about computer based speech generated at the time of the alert for perhaps a dynamically changing message, I'm pretty sure that can be done and hopefully @jmont1 will chime in as I think he has done some work along those lines.

Hi wondered if you could recommend a good text to speech website, as Ninjatrader, said that they officially do not support this, as it can create problems. If so. Do you experience any problems.

Hello,

I suspect the support issue is trying to directly use the text to speech engine within Ninjatrader which would be outside their scope of support. What I was writing about previously was using recorded text to speech as a sound file which can be played as a sound file within Ninjatrader using their PlaySound() method or the Alert() method.

The site I was using to generate the text to speech sound files is now closed, however here is another free one: From Text To Speech - Free online TTS service

Hope that helps.

Here is a TTS site I use that creates custom .wav files that work with NinjaTrader... Text 2 Speech

If your going to try the SAY approach, then here is a thread devoted to the programming for that ...
