I have downloaded the T4 platform for use and learning. This is the worst platform I have ever seen and can't figure out how to even place a single trade on demo/sim.

How is it that you are an "Advanced" (per your profile) trader, yet you aren't resourceful enough to search the help manual to figure out how to place a trade? What platforms have you used prior to this?

Man are a ball buster or what! LOL. Are you a Yankee?

I think @josh likes CTS and is defending it. It's the second most popular platform with professionals, so clearly it isn't so terrible

Patrick, you make me laugh--I am just being straight up. As Mike said, I tend to like CTS although I have no stake in doing so. It's just that an advanced trader calling CTS, which is really the only other platform used side-by-side with XTrader on the CME floor, the "worst platform [someone] has ever seen," seems a little over the top.

If it is the worst, I would like to hear what others he has used. There are "order tickets" as well as a standard DOM which can be used to place orders. I will be the first to admit that the T4 interface is a little kludgy. But a trip to their web site to read their manual will yield some answers rather quickly, and they do have email support that I have used before as well.

and what exactly has "an advanced trader" to do with a platform?

if you believe the floor traders are the creme de la creme of traders, then I'm afraid I have to disappoint you. I guarantee you that more then 50% of professional traders worldwide are not using cts or xtrader.

Guys, I've used a variety of trading platforms over the years. I don't feel i need to explain myself but will anyway. I'm only using and testing out this T4 to start with TopStepTrader so I need to first master this T4 platform to do it. It just feels so cumbersome and klunkly...like one has to move heavy bags of cement to get to some function

I don't usually read the instructions before I use a product, but I let myself see how far I can naturally understand and use something without taking a course or reading a full manual. NinjaTrader, for example is pretty intuitive and the chart trader is very straight forward. This T4, however, is certainly not intuitive. Why my orders keep on bouncing out when I'm connected to the Live simulator I don't know. I know how to place orders on the DOM by clicking on the grid cell on the bid or offer next to the price! I was simply getting bounced off on all attempted trades and without any explanation. At least in NT when there is an error you get a pop-up box telling you what is going on. Here there is just a very old sound (like a sound from an old 1980's game) blocking a trae. All I'm saying is I have to spend several more hours trying to learn this, when I should be able to use it out of the box....most things I can use at least 66% efficiently out of the box.....with T4 it is much less.

I have to watch this now for answers: Futures Trading 101: Getting to Know the T4 Trading Platform by John Hoagland - YouTube

One thing i DO like about T4 is that it has the different contract months on the charts and allows you to see the most active one...unlike NinjaTrader where you have to use the market analyzer and load up all the contract months you want to consider.

Anyway, I want to give my opinion on my INITIAL IMPRESSION of T4....and I already did that by saying it was the worst I've used. At this point it is not fun and I don't like it. Since this forum is geared to lovers of dogs then, if I was a dog and T4 was a fire hydrant...then I'd immediately go to pee on it!

I agree. T4 might be what the pros use, but it is not very intuitive. I too had to read the manual and watch videos, which is something I almost never do with software, even trading software.

That being said, once I got used to how it works, and customized it for my purposes, I actually really, really like it now. I can do most things faster than with anything else.

@futurestrader1 - I hope your Combine goes well!

I too found T4 cumbersome and not intuitive, even if the pros use it. I had to watch videos and read manual, which I almost never do with software.

BUT, once I figured it out, I found I really like it. It was just the initial "shock" that was hard. Now I can trade one of my systems faster with T4 than any other platform I tried.

Simply use Sierra Chart if you dislike T4. Fully supported by TST and CTS.

Yes, a beauty of T4 is that it is a very good solution for feed/data for Sierra chart, I use both CTS and Sierra (alternately) with the T4 feed for trading. If I am not trading options, then just Sierra, and if options, CTS. CTS is a great platform for trading futures options, really great to scalp them off the DOM and the options boards are nice to use too. I love the self centering DOM on CTS, more Platforms should have this feature

Man if the Pros are using it than I want to use it. I'm all about functionality and getting as close to what the Pros have because I feel it helps put one more thing in your corner to help keep up with the pack or surpass the pack. I learned only the CTS T4 mobile app and tablet platform and I can't wait to try it on a computer once I have the chance to buy another computer. CTS T4 will be my Platform of choice once I start a trading combine with Topsteptrader one of the positives is that you can trade the combine from your mobile devices, so if life is happening to you and you have to leave your computer you can manage your trades.
