The exchange/instrument has to deliver it, the data provider has to deliver it, the platform has to be able to show it.
Ninjatrader īs
DOM shows only 5 levels to each side, no matter what instrument. You have to use jigsaw-tools or jtrealstats to show all levels of the data feed.
CQG delivers even more than 20 levels (some hundred) on TF and DX, you need jtrealstats for this on NT.
Yes, you're right...I have the jigsaw DOM....I recall changing the parameter to show 20 now too.

Do you have to pay extra for Eurex Ultrabook with CQG . I haven't been able to find much information on it.
IQ doesn't seem to offer this, it is limited to 10 levels.
With a 1/2 point tick size , 10 levels on the Dax only gives depth to 5 points each side of the price, it not enough to be very useful.

Look for videos on there website it has some training videos there.
For Eurex if you are looking for cheap ones then this ones displays full DOM 10 Bid 10 Ask.
Also it saves orders on servers. Cost is less around $25 pm till Jan 2014 then $95- $200(With Market Profile). Catch is .50 Transaction fee. But its a stable and best in its category. Its DOM is much more powerful and customizable. It displays 100 ticks side by side of DOM if that matters. Charting is basic bit addition of Market Profile makes it stand out. Do look for Timezone ive not found a way to convert it to GMT.

On thinner instruments, it's certainly useful to have 10 or more so you can see outliers. 10 ticks isn't far away on GC or CL.
On thicker instruments, it's still nice to see as you come up to key levels, if there's anything going on up/down there.
I think you just get used to a certain number. I'm used to 10, so when I look @ 6E, I feel like I don't have enough info.

Check out TT's X_trader.
Full DOM , for execution the most reliable platform out there, both in terms of quality of info on the Dom and reliability in execution. Super fast never crashes.
Only downside comes at a price but usually gives you lower commision rates.
