Check here:
Symbology - ZenFire

If you need specific examples, tell me which instruments. I have my old settings for ES and CL I can share.

Zen Fire does not have a continuous contract. There is no backfill that will work either for this. If you had IQFeed, it would work. If you started collecting data with Zen Fire via MultiCharts 3 months ago, that would also work.

The issue is the contract expired so you are seeing the gap from the front month at the time (just guessing without more info).

Also building a custom futures contract is more complex, I would leave that alone for now. It is useful when you need to piece together multiple contracts (expirations) into a single chart with proper rollover dates. But since Zen doesn't have backfill and you don't have the data it won't help you.

If you decide that backfill is important I would recommend DTN IQFeed. I've used it for over a year now with MultiCharts with great success.

Sound good to me.
IQFeed has a CME Exchange Waiver Program, so you pay only 83 bucks monthly.

Another question: until now I use Kinetick datafeed with CME Exchange Waiver Program , did you have any experience with this datafeed, and how can I connect to them? From my side of view, they only compatible with NinjaTrader 7?

thanks and have a nice weekend.

You are totally right, it is the difference between front-month and historical data.

Is anyone able to connect MCDT to an MBTrading demo account?

Mike or others, is there really an advantage of using full MC vs the current full version of NT? Looking for chart trading with very little to no indicators - only things I keep up are things that help me visualize whats going on better such as swing rays etc..

Thanks!

Kinetick is only for NinjaTrader. If you use another platform, IQFeed is the way to go so you can use the same feed with multiple platforms simultaneously. Again IQFeed is only required in some situations, sometimes your broker supplied feed will be good enough.

I really, really like MultiCharts for charting. They are clean, crisp, responsive, just lots of small things that make a difference for me I guess. I like how simple it is to add something on/off the chart, temporarily hide it, etc. I like how each chart can be driven by its own data source. Too many things to list in one post, just read the whole thread

That said, if you already own NT7 and it is working for you, then why change to MultiCharts. NT7 has one of the best DOM's in the business. I switched because NT was not working for me.

Yes, it works with MBT demo account, and with a real account.

***** Update - Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that MC will be at New York Traders Expo.....they should have some good demos of the new capabilities in MC7

The Traders Expo New York

I have been working with MC to help get Cumulative Delta tools built as a standard feature within their platform for several weeks now. At this point, they have built an initial capability to connect to DTN.IQ feed historical BID/ASK data in "beta" form (what NT7 does not have). They are going to incorporate this capability into MC 7 going forward which is great imo. If you want to start working with the MC CD tools available in "beta" at this time, I suggest you contact Jeff at MC for access ( jjenkins@ MultiCharts.com ).
