Why so? What did you do?

said not enough expierence and could retry in 90 days, I only had 5000 in there, that may have been the reason, I thought that would be enough

5k could be just enough if you really know what you are doing, and your error rate is real low.
i.e. if you are an experienced veteran with a real good record.

But I agree, you'd better not touch futures for now, and in any case start with sim and virtual money to learn and practice before risking a single penny of your own wealth.

Successful people will do what unsuccessful people won't or can't do!

I am only wanting to trade 1 or 2 contracts at a time. I felt like that is safe and yes sim trading at first, just want to have my real account ready. I would like to start first of next year.

Could I trade through the ninja platform and keep my account at tdameritrade active and use their data feed?

Mirus or AMP will open an account for you with 5k. You will get better commissions and extended intraday margins - beyond the $500 dangerous minimum, intraday margins are in effect during nearly all the Globex session unlike TOS which only has intraday margins during RTH: (see attached)

You can also get a free license for the NT platform to trade with them but w/o the ATM features activated and no ninjascript. (a trade-off)

Unless you had wanted to keep it all in one account, that is, then best to wait 90 days and try again. Which works out fine because it will be the new tax year.
