Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

Here's a more specific question, which version of Multicharts would I be interested in for my discretionary trading needs, MC or MC .NET? I'm not too interested in complex/custom indicators or programming, if a need for one arises, I may look into it, but mostly interested in just trading.

I've read posts on other forums praising Sierra that it doesn't use .NET, and this allows it to be more fast, robust, and reliable, compared to NT. I've also read general complaints about the .NET framework.

Which one will be faster and more stable?

choosing a platform

what i have noticed is that there is a considerable investment in learning any platform

so that if you use one for say a year and then check out another platform, you will find that it is very difficult simply because you are tuned to the one you know

so changing platforms is quite difficult (speaking personally)

@Fat Tails

Not that I am keeping score but in the four months since we last argued in this thread, Multicharts has released one minor and one major version. The one released today has significant new features and enhancements.

Sierracharts which was the OP's other choice has released like 17 minor dot point releases and one major version release.

By the way have you heard anything from Ninjatrader? About version 8 I mean
