I am looking for a volume profile (not TPO not based on price). I would like to be able to display accurate (from unfiltered ticks) a volume profile by time. Ideally the chart would have a full day profile and half hour or hourly profiles as well. I would like the chart to be capable of displaying historical profiles as well as real time profiles. I would like to see it in ninjatrader if possible. I do not need any bells and whistles like value areas, VPOCs or lines of any sort.
Please point me in the right direction if you know of something good. I have seen IRT, which is great really and truly, however I am looking for a cheaper alternative hopefully FREE . Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Checked it.
They talk about GOM and the other 3rd party one.
I have heard GOM does not have historical and you need to have your pc on 24/7 to get it to display what you need. I am not sure if this is true or not, anyone have experience with GOM's latest version?
The cheapest and most advanced & flexible solution is IRT (with backfill / historical service provided by DTN ($15/month) + Standard Edition ($40/month)
IRT is a good choice, but if you prefer NT, ranchodinero VP tools for ninja platform are excellent. It's not cheap (unless you got on board early ) but you can purchase it outright or lease.
Need more on my charts? I don't use charts to trade so I guess it could be rephrased as why do you need charts at all. The answer I give is: Context. Bars do help, and have been enough so far, however it is quicker to read off a volume dist. It takes less work. I am not a profiler per/se and don't really plan on being one. However I am looking for solutions that allow me to spend less time looking at charts in the morning and this is a good one for what I need them for. I like to know where there was activity and where people are long/short from, the volume profile makes this much easier to see and read IMO.
Will check out ensign Thanks a lot for the suggestion. Appreciate it. Anyone else with a good solution please chime in.
I revise my original post I do not need hourly at all, daily is fine and maybe a collapsed one for a week or so would be more than enough for my purposes.
