What exactly is the edge in functional terms in your opinion?

Well, Chad said it all in the previous post.
The Session Statistics Indicator, Profile Indicator, and Volume Breakdown Indicator are probably the best indicators IRT offers. They have almost all options that you can think of.

If you're looking for order flow then you should look at Market Delta for footprint charts since IRT does not offer it.

I advise you to contact Chad and I'm certain he offer a 15 day trial so you can test it.
Linn software is probably the only company that offer on their site duzens of videos where all tools are thoroughly explained by Chad.
IRT is not an easy platform to work with initially because of its, like Mr Linn so eloquently said, idiosyncrasies but the videos are a life saver.

Also, if you want to see IRT charts check FT71 traderbite videos.

I should charge Linn software all this free advertisement, especially when I'm using another platform

If I become half a percent smarter each year, I'll be a genius by the time I die

A few key examples of this are the Session Statistics Indicator, Profile Indicator, and Volume Breakdown Indicator. All three have a mountain of functionality built into one indicator and one small dialog. Take a look at this image to give you an idea of the options Session Statistics provide. Just about any time-based statistical combination imaginable is available. And we offer 150 built-in indicators as well as the ability to write your own, but these are just a few of the more popular and robust ones.

As a long time user (and often beta version tester) I have to say that IRT had a great development over the years.
For the newbie this program is not about how to ride a bicycle but to test some extravagant new features of a mars roboter.
At last to really use this tremendous black box AS a TRADER one needs to get hands on charts that are of interest.
Fortunately the Linnsoft site and some forums share the most important charts with the needed indicators fully
prepared for download and instant use. Without that and looking at the steep learning curve a newbie will
give up too early and we do not see some new educated traders that get profitable.

So - Go For It

User since 2001-2...can't remember exactly. So I am fortunate to have been one of the few who did purchase a lifetime license when it was available.I also pay a yearly upgrade fee in order to maintain that license. It is more than fair considering what the product was 12 years ago and what it has become today..what it will become next year.

I brought a lot of concepts and feature requests to Bill and Chad. From there Chad has expanded on them above and beyond what I initially needed.Turn around time from concept to beta is quick.Bill and Chad do consider just about all of these requests and often will discuss these with users for feedback before implementing them.

To be honest years ago, out of pure selfishness,I didn't want people to discover IRT's Market Profile and Volume Breakdown concepts for fear that I would be giving up my edge! Before I became involved the MP charts were very basic Price/Time charts and not really anything remotely similar to what it has become other than an MP graphical shape. From there Linnsoft grew tremendously based on user requests by many of us who were involved with MP trading and/or education. I was actually surprised to see MP become such a demanded feature and trading method.

The next milestone was a year after I brought BVOL-AVOL..which became Volume Breakdown...no one was doing anything of the sort. I believe around that time Trevor from Market Delta came up with the FootPrint charts. Upon user requests Linnsoft made their own and better...as others have mentioned they became two products for obvious reasons.

The point is most of what IRT has become is due to traders/users coming up with concepts and Chad's tremendous work in application of those concepts...features we usually have before any other charting application..as far as I know...and usually done better too.The rest copy and or steal from Linnsoft. I guess not everything can be copy-written.

Currently I am in the process of going from pure discretionary Dynamic Market Profile trading to algorithm based trading out of the need to survive. I have a few more concepts up my sleeve that I'm hoping Chad will eventually add. Namely...machine learning, genetic algorithms and a new dynamic chart type...the concept is sound,it's the mechanics I have to figure out.

So if users or "fence sitters" have ideas that will potentially help users earn more $ trading...send Chad your requests! It helps us all.

NO I am not compensated by Linnsoft in any way shape or form...as a matter of fact you can ask Bill how mad I am about the whole Market Profile and Market Delta situation.I have to pay for those features like everyone else.

Great website...I should get a free Elite membership for all the concept work I've put into IRT that every other vendor stole!
