Are US stock options European or American?

I mean, can they be exercised before expiry?

And what about options on commodity futures? Are they American or European?

Thank you.

Options on commodity futures can be exercised before expiry. Although, usually it is better to sell them back to receive the remaining time value.

I do not know about stock options.

Best regards, Myrrdin
