@Ron any thoughts on Coffee? With the large move up we've seen in the last week the premiums are starting to soar again.

While the increased premiums are nice, I suspect that KC will be very volatile at least until the Mar futures contract hits First Notice day on 2/20.

But if Brazil starts getting some rain, that should stop the upward price increases of futures.

The 10 day forecast for Pocos de Caldas, Brazil is temps upper 80s and no rain.

Specs were net short 7k futures contracts as of 1/28. I suspect they are not short anymore. They were net short 30k contacts on 11/3/13.

Ron,

How are you doing with selling OTM ES puts? Has the recent volatility been favorable for you?

Which leads me to my next question for Ron and everyone else here, where is a good place to look up historical daily closing prices for options on any given strike? For example, I want to know what the daily movement/settlement price of ESH41400P for the past two to three weeks or how about KCK41700C for the past two to three weeks?

I know Ron you mentioned that you can look that up easily but I do believe you pay for a service. Anyone use Barchart.com here? Or any other service you guys can recommend?

Ivolatility.com might be one place to look.

Check out @Dudetooth's excel sheet here:

He posted the newest version yesterday, and its great at tracking and searching for options. It also has the ability to track the history of any commodity option (starting from 1/1/2013) with its SPAN margin requirements.

Here's an example from the sheet of the history for ESH4 P1400 from 1/10/14 till now:

Thanks! The chart looks great and contains all of the info that I would need. But downloading and setting it up seems daunting as I am not good at all with all of the technical computer stuff.

It is very easy. Download spreadsheet. Then follow instructions. The last version linked is easier than the earlier ones.

If you are doing a bunch of dates for historical do it during slower times like weekends because it will take time to download each day's data.

Nothing technical. It is FAR EASIER than PC-SPAN.

If you have questions ask in the PC-SPAN thread.

Actually had a bunch of ES puts on before the drop but didn't have to get out of any of them and am now good on the contracts.

I did sell a bunch of Feb 1280s for .25 that are now at .05. It was a 4%+ ROI at the time I put them on. 400+ OTM and only 18 DTE and 4% monthly ROI. Can't beat those numbers.

MJ888,

I always find this a good place to look at historic option prices, you won't get closing prices going back 3 weeks , only about 7 sessions, but the charts goes back further and is a good visual on what's any option you choose has done.

Brite Futures

Thanks Harvard16, pretty much what I was looking for! And the historical goes back quite far too!
